I didn't say it was illegal to sell it, I said its illegal to make it of coins in circulation. From my understanding coin jewlery that they sold is made of Mutilated coins that the tresurary department recycles. |

It is not illegal to buy or sell coin jewelry. ShopNBC and the other shopping networks do it all the time. Proof is below. They are selling a brand new US coins as jewelry.

I simply want to buy gold coins for children from the year they were born, mount them in a bezel and get a gold chains to hang them on.

He didn't say that by making it into jewelry he'd be defacing the coins. I could be wrong, but I think the law is against defacing the currency. There must be a way to mount a coin on a chain in some kind of holder without defacing the coin. |
