We're dumping Comcast

Split from this topic ---> »[Newsgroups] The Comcast Newsgroups Service Discontinued

The change won't be affecting us. We're dumping Comcast, for both TV and internet.

What a joke the company is.

I also plan to drop Comcast's TV services and use DirecTV. After the hurricane here DAYS after Comcast is still dead while the neighbor's dish service is fine. Great advertisement that dish goes down when there are clouds. Clouds or sunny skies here, Comcast's service still does not work here.

Until the next hurricane rips off the dish and sends it clear across town

Well, this one didn't. Neither did it drop poles or broke power lines or cable lines. But guess, what ? Dish is up and Comcast down. Will I get a credit for the service I do not receive ? I am not looking forward on being on the phone for hours with our friends from India to get the credit. I will send them a registered letter and copy the city cable comission to it.

Ever since the hurricane passed, I have seen dozens of electric company trucks fixing things. Not even ONE, ONE ! Comcast repair crew. Zero. No service, no attempt to repair, either.

Yes, you will get a credit. India? Only in the weeee hours. Comcast has call centers in the U.S. and in Canada. I would call now so they can note when you called. When you call back after service is working, they will see how long it was out and issue you a credit. And no, they can't see how long you were out. Once service is restored, there is no outage record.

Every single time I called, there was a person with a Hindu accent responding, except for the "abuse" department. I personally could care less where they are located, the customer service is horrible, matching the ones that deliver it.

I will not bother to call. Many people in my neighborhood called and there is no service restoration. I will contact the city to escalate the issue, the time for begging to get the service I pay for IN ADVANCE is over.

"Ever since the hurricane passed, I have seen dozens of electric company trucks fixing things. Not even ONE, ONE ! Comcast repair crew. Zero. No service, no attempt to repair, either."

Unfortunately cable companies have to wait in line behind the Electric Companies. Once the power companies issue the all clear then cable companies can start work on their lines.

Power was restored Monday. There is still no cable service today. Of course, it must be the electric company's fault for not giving the all clear.

HOUSTON, Sept 16 (Reuters) - CenterPoint Energy, the major utility serving Houston, said 667,000 customers had electric service early Tuesday, leaving 1.49 million in the dark following Hurricane Ike.

More than 2.1 million CenterPoint customers, or 99 percent, lost power after the storm made landfall early Saturday.

Although no specific timetable has been issued, CenterPoint has warned that total restoration may take several weeks.

Still another1.49 million to go eh....maybe that has something to do with it.

Sure. So if 1 person still has no power, of course Comcast has to wait restoring services to everyone else, right ? Good strategy, saves a bit of bandwidth, too.

Ok .....This is going way off topic.

Just because your street has power it does not mean that every part of the COMCAST infrastructure does.

I can assure you there are many people working their butts off to restore service to you. My advice would be to go to Dish

I suppose people with Christian or Budhist accents are better, but I'm not sure how religion makes a difference.

Yes, apologies, should have said Hindi instead.
