| I seriously doubt that they will have a presence or storefront in Canada. They will most likely just have the website and "contract out" the orders under the newegg name.
I'll believe it when I see the sign newegg on a warehouse located in Canada -- It's all... part of the plan.

However, if Newegg is coming to Canada, they will have a long way top go to beat NCIX. NCIX not charging 8% PST for Ontario residents is a major competitive advantage, as are their low cost shipping deals. just take a look for example at; Seagate 7200.11 750GB 7200RPM 32MB SATAII Hard Drive, 5Yr
ShopRBC $118 x %8PST = $127.44 NCIX $152.95
Even with the PST it's still cheaper and they have flat rate shipping on no matter how much you buy.
I agree that competition is good. -- It's all... part of the plan.

I just purchased a 1GB 4870 direct from Diamond Multimedia in California for $299 with $15 shipping (total $314) and no taxes whatsoever. Just hoping customs won't do me in the butt too badly but as the Sapphire equivalent sells for $369 in Ottawa, plus taxes, I think I'll come out ahead even with some reasonable duties.
My local reseller is buying my factory-overclocked 3870 and I'm selling some textbooks so this will end up costing me about $50 for doubling my speed and my VRAM (Oblivion sometimes takes up to 950MB of VRAM with the detailed textures I'm using).

4 edits | Those long cards would not fit in my midtower case. See, there's not much space left in front of my 3870. Here's also how I modded the front of my Antec case to increase airflow through the 120mm fan (yes, it's black pantihose filtering). I'll probably get an Intel E8600 with Asus mainboard and 8Gb RAM in a few weeks. Gonna use a Xigmatek HDT-S1283 to replace the Intel stock HSF and overclock this baby to ~4.5GHz.
I basically rehaul my PC every 2-3 years, so now is due time.

| I build 100+ systems a year and mostly use NCIX because they have such a huge inventory. They also carry the unusual stuff like MCP655 12V Industrial Pumps for watercooled systems and the very popular custom blocks.
However, once, I ordered a 4000$ (in parts) system for a client with TWO 280GTX. I only had one in the box. I called... they didn't believe me.
It took serious yelling, a talk with a supervisor to make them understand I would spam the entire Internet with their major fuck-up and to look at my ordering record to see I was a regular customer who had never done this.
They finally sent a new one out, but I'm telling you, this kind of mistake is unacceptable.

| I don't think NCIX will be quaking in their boots. I price parts all the time and yes, many shops have some items lower than NCIX but on the whole if you buy from the weekly sale page NCIX is really really competitive. The other thing that keeps me going back to NCIX is the fact they have 95% of the items I want IN STOCK. So many shops here in the Vancouver area advertise parts on sale but only carry a few in stock. P*sses me off when I have to drive all the way back a day later.
The only advantage for me with NewEgg will be no provincial tax if they ship from Ontario.

| They'll be subject to the same problem any other Canadian retailer has.
They have to buy it from Canadian wholesalers. They can't import it from the US. The warranty's aren't valid on most products when they cross the border (if bought wholesale in US, warrany only good in the US). Hence why most US electronic retailers don't ship to Canada.
