| reply to rockotman Re: Scion, Civic or ...
We went shopping again today (I'd been doing the advanced recon). To my surprise, the oldest didn't fit in some of the cars we'd been considering. In a Corolla, for example and with the seat all the way back, his knees were on the steering wheel and he could barely squeeze his size 12 foot past the brake pedal to push the throttle. Same issue with similar cars. Long legs, I guess.
We looked at two Accords - each with about 17k miles, one a 2006 and the other a 2007. About the same money. Looked again at Scions and came home with one. New with warranty for less than a two year-old Accord. Not apples to apples, but everyone liked the looks of the Scion the best. The rear seats recline, which fixes the headroom problem and legroom is adequate.
By the time he grows out of it, the younger one will be driving.

| BTW, I posted this on my way out the door to watch Moose, as we affectionately call my son, pitch and didn't add a thank you for the replies.
I've posted here the last three times I've bought a car and have always learned something worthwhile in the process. |

| reply to No_Strings congrats on the new car! I've been following this thread since my wife and I were in the market for a new car. We finally bought a 2009 Camry XLE (for invoice! + a great price for my 02 Tacoma trade-in) last night.
If you hadn't bought anything yet, I was going to suggest you check out Power Toyota/Scion in Irvine (if you hadn't already), as they seemed very willing to deal. -- flickr gallery photo blog (rarely updated) |
