VMware Workstation network connection issues

Running Vista 64bit with VMWare Workstation 6.5 and in that I am running a Virtual Vista 64bit. Now I am having issues with bridged networking, NAT works fine but Bridged won't.
I am using Linksys router with DDWRT and NON-DHCP (I assign my IPs). So I did assign an IP to the Virtual Vista and it just won't take. It gets stuck at IDENTIFYING NETWORK and then UNKNOWN NETWORK...no connection to the net.
If I go with NAT and auto IP assign then it works fine but well the devices outside can't see the server processes inside the VM (like Ventrillo, Teamspeak, sharing) since the new assigned IP is on a different subnet.
I would really want to keep the same subnet as my network (hence bridging). That is why I am wondering if anyone had similar issues.

That is a bit odd. I am running Vista x64 and VMware Workstation, and I am able to run a virtual Vista box just fine using bridged networking. I as well am using a Linksys router with DHCP turned off as I prefer to manually assign my devices an IP address.

When I assign an IP to my virtual box, I select an IP address not in use and assign it to the virtual machine, for subnet mask I enter 255.255.255.0 , and for gateway and dns servers both 192.168.1.1 . I've yet to have any issues.

Have you tried installing the VMware tools?

got it fixed, apparently it does not like INtel WiFi chip, but wired it has no issues.

Glad to hear you got it working. You may want to drop their support team a line and let them know about the issue and the Intel WiFi problems. They may be able to resolve the problem by releasing an updated driver for it.
