Try the following to re-register the files for XP defrag:
Start > Run > regsvr32 dfrgsnap.dll
Start > Run > regsvr32 dfrgui.dll
Restart the computer (it may not be necessary to restart the computer) |

| Did you try reinstalling the application as listed in the link I posted?
"Try running the disk defragment again and it should work. If not, you can try re-installing the application by going to the C:\Windows\inf directory and locating a file called dfrg.inf. Right click that file and select Install and this will re-install the disk defragmenting tool." -- They may forget what you said but they will never forget how you made them feel.-- Anonymous |

No dice, I still get the error I posted in my opening post.
Edit: Saw the link finally. I'll try it and see.
Two: Still no dice. |

auggy Premium,Mod join:2001-12-24 Brockville, ON | Try re-registering the atl.dll first as follows:
Start > Run > regsvr32 atl.dll > OK
Start > Run > regsvr32 dfrgsnap.dll > OK
Start > Run > regsvr32 dfrgui.dll > OK
Restart the computer. |

Edit: What causes stuff like this to become unregistered in the first place? Not using it for a long time? |

Third party defrag programs such as Diskeeper sometimes cause the issue with XPs defrag. |

That's funny. Cause guess what I uninstalled a few days ago before trying the standard windows defrag?
Thanks for everything. |
