Re: Welcome to the AT&T High Speed Internet Installer.

If you are an existing user then it just verifies your account.

Below are some of the pieces that would come after Picture 2 in my above reply.

These are not all of the pieces.

I'm going to document the process from start to finish with a brand new account on a squeaky clean computer with a fresh Windows install using a Motorola 2210-02-1006 modem.

I have setup two FastAccess Business DSL accounts this week using this online method and no software was required to be downloaded. I did not have time to document anything on these two installs because time would not allow it.

The job that I'm going to document the "New Account Creation" on is a "Good Buddy" kind of job and my friend told me his head is not going to explode if he doesn't have his computers back the day after I picked them up from him. I was hoping to have this all done today but I did a job yesterday that was supposed to be about 30 minutes and it turned into about 6 hours. I hope to have this all done tomorrow but I have three identical Dell Inspiron 1501 laptops and one Dell Dimension 2400 desktop to finish up for him. The laptops need one LCD screen replaced, two keyboards replaced, two bad memory modules replaced, and all need hard drives replaced. I have received all the parts from Dell and I built the newest Dell Diagnostics partition and Dell Recovery partition onto one hard drive and I'm updating the Dell Recovery partition from Vista Home Premium 32 bit to Vista Home Premium 32 bit with SP1 plus newest drivers and software minus crap-ware and trail-ware. When I get the one drive to my liking then I'm going to clone it to the others being that the Inspirons are hardware identical.

I hope to have them finished and delivered by tomorrow evening but sometimes things don't go as planned.

What about the page where you can choose your own user id / password or use the suggestions

Re: Welcome to the AT&T High Speed Internet Installer.

I did not go that far into it to get these screen captures.

I'm not ready to create this guy's account yet.

I'm going to wait until I can sit down with him to do it so he can choose his own security questions and answers and pick his own user name and password.

Soon as I can get all of his computers back on their feet and delivered I will setup everything and document the process from start to finish then come back here and delete the contents of my replies in this thread and edit my first reply with the new info.

I will be using Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit with SP1 and all updates with User Account Control turned on. The browser will be IE7 running in Protected Mode. The security software will be Windows Live OneCare with current updates and all security features will be enabled.

If it tries to install any software then Windows Vista will squawk like a chicken about it. I'm 99.99% certain that it is all web based and doesn't require any software.

Somethings must be manually configured before and after going to the website. This is not like the other online process or using the CD where it holds the user's hand and does everything automatically for the user.

I have heard on this forum that the modems are already configured with the attreg.att.net user name and attreg password. I have done several of these lately with New in the Box 2210-02-1006 ADSL2+ Gateways and 3347-02-1006L ADSL2+ Wireless Gateways and this is not the case. There was no user name and password in these modems.

I ordered the $10.00 FastAccess DSL Lite deal for this guy and he did not qualify for the free modem so I will be giving him a used 2210-02-1006 modem that I will fully reset back to factory defaults.

Re: Welcome to the AT&T High Speed Internet Installer.

I would be more impressed if it worked with FireFox.

But thankyou, thankyou, thankyou for doing this much!

Re: Welcome to the AT&T High Speed Internet Installer.

This Mozilla Firefox version 3.03?

I have not completed the process with Mozilla Firefox. I tried all the buttons on each page in the screen captures and the cancel button on one page doesn't work with Firefox. I don't know if that really matters though if you are creating a new account because you would need to be moving forward through the flow and not backwards.

I already know it works with Vista and IE7 so I guess I could try it tomorrow with Vista and Firefox.

My buddy wont care one way or another as long as he has his new FastAccess DSL Lite setup and working and all of his computers fixed.

He's getting several surprise upgrades for free so he better not give me any lip about doing it with Firefox. I went through my "Big Box of Junk" and found some sweet upgrades for his Dell Dimension 2400.

Re: Welcome to the AT&T High Speed Internet Installer.

Cool. It works for WIN98 too just in case you know any little old ladies with their kids' hand-me-downs that weren't told that it isn't supported.

I think you might be referring to my asking if the 2701HG-B modem has a factory set username password.
In the other at&t regions the 2wire's have had a factory set username password since 2006

Airwolf, did you not know about the tech reg site or is this just about it going to the spanish portal? I went through it and it sent me to the spanish portal too. But the tech reg site has been around since, well about as long as the regular reg site.

Re: Welcome to the AT&T High Speed Internet Installer.

I do not work for AT&T. I did not know about it until about a two weeks ago. It did not go to the Spanish portal page when I actually created a new account. It only went there when I verified my existing account.

I saw it in the browser history of one of my customer's computers when I went over to his house to reconfigure his 2210-02-1006 and his wireless router. I filed that site away in the back of my head for later.

The AT&T tech lady helped him create his new account by walking him through the online method at »https://attreg.att.net/dsltech

The AT&T tech lady and the NetGear tech could not get his modem and router setup to work right.

I had to call the AT&T tech lady a few days later because I was having trouble with setting up a new account online at »dslinstallation.bellsouth.net/ and with the CD. The software part keep screwing things up.

The AT&T tech lady walked me through the online way without having to install the software and I have been doing it that way ever since.

The online way without the software always works and it's easy.

This reminds me that I need to check my e-mail and give the nice AT&T tech lady a good review for providing me with excellent support help.

She was a nice black lady from the South. I always get excellent AT&T support help from nice black ladies in the South. AT&T needs to hire more nice black ladies from the South instead of foreigners from across the ocean.

Though I completely agree with you, you have no idea how hard that made me laugh.

I have a question.

How do you know it is not the same nice black lady from the South every time you call?

I think all the mean black ladies from the South all work for Charter. :

All jokes aside. How have you been Airwolf7 my friend?

P.S. I think some of those pictures look familiar.

Different voices, speech patterns, and colloquial sayings and phrases. Some were located in different departments of tech support.

I'm doing fine. I have been very busy. Covered up with things to work on and that's good.

This method is extremely similar to the method that we used to create your account online.
