| Re: Welcome to the AT&T High Speed Internet Installer. I did not go that far into it to get these screen captures.
I'm not ready to create this guy's account yet.
I'm going to wait until I can sit down with him to do it so he can choose his own security questions and answers and pick his own user name and password.
Soon as I can get all of his computers back on their feet and delivered I will setup everything and document the process from start to finish then come back here and delete the contents of my replies in this thread and edit my first reply with the new info.
I will be using Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit with SP1 and all updates with User Account Control turned on. The browser will be IE7 running in Protected Mode. The security software will be Windows Live OneCare with current updates and all security features will be enabled.
If it tries to install any software then Windows Vista will squawk like a chicken about it. I'm 99.99% certain that it is all web based and doesn't require any software.
Somethings must be manually configured before and after going to the website. This is not like the other online process or using the CD where it holds the user's hand and does everything automatically for the user.
I have heard on this forum that the modems are already configured with the attreg.att.net user name and attreg password. I have done several of these lately with New in the Box 2210-02-1006 ADSL2+ Gateways and 3347-02-1006L ADSL2+ Wireless Gateways and this is not the case. There was no user name and password in these modems.
I ordered the $10.00 FastAccess DSL Lite deal for this guy and he did not qualify for the free modem so I will be giving him a used 2210-02-1006 modem that I will fully reset back to factory defaults.

But thankyou, thankyou, thankyou for doing this much!

I think you might be referring to my asking if the 2701HG-B modem has a factory set username password. In the other at&t regions the 2wire's have had a factory set username password since 2006

| Airwolf, did you not know about the tech reg site or is this just about it going to the spanish portal? I went through it and it sent me to the spanish portal too. But the tech reg site has been around since, well about as long as the regular reg site. | |

4 edits | Re: Welcome to the AT&T High Speed Internet Installer. I do not work for AT&T. I did not know about it until about a two weeks ago. It did not go to the Spanish portal page when I actually created a new account. It only went there when I verified my existing account.
I saw it in the browser history of one of my customer's computers when I went over to his house to reconfigure his 2210-02-1006 and his wireless router. I filed that site away in the back of my head for later.
The AT&T tech lady helped him create his new account by walking him through the online method at »https://attreg.att.net/dsltech
The AT&T tech lady and the NetGear tech could not get his modem and router setup to work right.
I had to call the AT&T tech lady a few days later because I was having trouble with setting up a new account online at »dslinstallation.bellsouth.net/ and with the CD. The software part keep screwing things up.
The AT&T tech lady walked me through the online way without having to install the software and I have been doing it that way ever since.
The online way without the software always works and it's easy.
This reminds me that I need to check my e-mail and give the nice AT&T tech lady a good review for providing me with excellent support help.
She was a nice black lady from the South. I always get excellent AT&T support help from nice black ladies in the South. AT&T needs to hire more nice black ladies from the South instead of foreigners from across the ocean.

Different voices, speech patterns, and colloquial sayings and phrases. Some were located in different departments of tech support.
said by Sasba858 :All jokes aside. How have you been Airwolf7 my friend? I'm doing fine. I have been very busy. Covered up with things to work on and that's good.
said by Sasba858 :P.S. I think some of those pictures look familiar. This method is extremely similar to the method that we used to create your account online.
