Just make sure you have located all the drivers for your laptop/OS combination before jumping the gun.

I'd be careful advising that Greg. In the very least, the OP should at least have a copy if his/her wireless or wired NIC drivers just in case. There's always that slim chance of possibility in my experience. From there, THEN it should be able to pick up the rest of the drivers through the driver cache or windows update and if XP then can't find them, can grab them online manually.

The drivers for that particular Laptop series come on the XP SP2 disc, due to as stated before, that laptop series has been out since late 2006/early 2007.

I have an HP DV9260US laptop and XP SP2 or even SP3 does not have all the drivers for it. Here is the HP driver site for the OP's laptop and the XP drivers are sparse.
