tkmaro, you magnificent *(&%*&@%(&%#

That's almost identical to what I am working on putting together. Are you happy with your case selection? I am leaning towards a Lian-Li myself.

Very happy. Closest thing to totally tool-less I've seen. Everything has thumbscrews except the HDD cage, and that takes a real Phillips to pull out (2 screws). Between Lian-Li and Soyo, you'd think they made the case/mobo for each other. That case has 3-speeds manually selectable for the fans. The whole CPU tray comes completely out for easy initial setup and installation of cards, RAM, CPU, etc. Got the gold case for $167 from NewEgg.

Great, thanks. I am leaning towards ordering from NewEgg and getting the one with the transparent side. I thought i'd super-geek it and throw in a neon light.

My theory: If you don't know enough about computer hardware to know whether it is a good system, then it is a good system.

A car dealer that I worked with on another job once told me that any deal that you were happy with was a good deal.

There's always going to be something bigger, better, cheaper, with a better warranty or a brighter color. Choose wisely, be happy with the choice you make.

When I started putting this one together I made a "bet" with Cariad that it might remain a top dog system for about two weeks. Took only TWO DAYS after completing it (and actually it isn't complete - the video board hasn't arrived yet) until AMD announced the 2000+. Poof!

nameless Others have told me the on board sound is great. I haven't used it. I chose a separate sound card based on the sound card's specs and a recommendation or two from other members. I am using the on board 10/100 NIC feature.
