@sbcglobal.net | reply to StillLearn Re: McAfee free to AT&T Yahoo users
I am an AT&T Yahoo user and just tried to get the software. I was told by the AT&T rep on a help chat that is won't work from me (I couldn't download) due to incompatiblity with IE7. She wanted me to downgrade to IE6.
Anybody heard this? |

It looks as though it's Vista for x64 install. |

| reply to Frohike Well. If you can find a McAfee ISS installer that is free to ATT users that will work on XP x64 I will be very very happy as I do not like Avast or AVG and do not have the money needed to get McAfee Enterprise with a Home User license ($250+ tax/shipping approx). |

| reply to nogard666 said by nogard666 :After 4 hours of being on the phone McAfee finally had to give me a direct link to the file as when I went to att.software.yahoo.com or att.software.yahoo.com/getprotected there was not an option for me to download ISS. At the end of the support they finally handed me over to somebody that was a native English speaker that was really in the US. 30 minuets of working with them and trying about 10 different pages they just sent me a link that when I clicked it directly opened the save file program. Upon trying to install I got an error saying that the version of Windows that I have is not support by McAfee, another 10 minuets of the level 2 tech person doing research on the issue found out that McAfee does in fact not support XP x64 or Vista 64bit, and they are not planning on supporting it or Vista 64bit any time soon. They lied. I'm level 2 Tech Support. McAfee does work on 64bit OS. At least it did few days ago. I will check our support docs and see if system requirements have changed. |

| reply to ArgMeMatey said by ArgMeMatey :said by Springbokke :Yes! Same problem. Installed fine on a XP and Vista PC, failed on the 3rd pc running Vista Home premium 32 bit. Did you see my later post? I re-ran Norton Removal Tool and then everything went OK. Unfortunately uninstalling Norton and even using their removal tool did not work for me. I'm now stuck with no Antivirus software and looks like I will have to buy my own. |

| reply to nwrickert I am an ATT customer. I recently got new hardware and thus had to wipe my hard drive. On my last system I used the links here to download McAfee. Now when I click them I get
"Sorry, the page you requested was not found.
Please check the URL for proper spelling and capitalization. If you're having trouble locating a destination on Yahoo!, try visiting the Yahoo! home page or look through a list of Yahoo!'s online services. Also, you may find what you're looking for if you try searching below."
Also, I just spent 4 hours on the phone between ATT and McAfee. Their ISS software will NOT support Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.
Now I am stuck with running a bad AV program like Avast, buying McAfee Enterprise, or going back to normal 32bit XP and not being able to utilize all 4GB of ram that I have. |

| reply to nogard666 None of the download links on this thread work. They should work for AT&T/Yahoo customers, though they probably require that a password be given at some point. -- AT&T dsl; Westell 327w modem/router; openSuSE 11.0; firefox 3.0.4 |

| reply to StillLearn I was disappointed that there was no notification that AT&T Yahoo DSL was switching to McAfee. I bet they received lots of service requests for this.
We noticed it when we tried to open a ms Word document and it failed. I think it was trying to scan for viruses and the norton code was not responding. Norton eventually gave me an error, with corrective action to uninstall and re-install. Of course, when I went to reinstall, I got McAfee. If it works OK, I would have no complaints, but...
My questions: has anyone else had any problems with ms IE 7.0? The only way it can run is without add-ons. And Mozilla Firefox is equally messed up. Anyone with advise or a link on how to troubleshoot this? Thanks!! |

| reply to wings10 I just did the switch myself. I was concerned about whether I should remove the old Norton package before installing the McAfee, and their website recommended that. But the McAfee installer recognized the AT&T Security Suite (including Norton) as "incompatible", and removed it before proceeding with the install. I have no idea how good a job it did uninstalling the Norton (notoriously insidious...), but the McAfee installed quickly and with no apparent problems. I'll test drive this a few days; we have Norton 2007 (non AT&T) installed on my wife's laptop, and the subscription runs out next Saturday. If I'm happy with McAfee, I'll load it up on that machine, otherwise, I think i will put Norton 2009 on both machines, based on good reviews i've seen |

1 edit | reply to StillLearn I removed ATT Norton and installed ATT McAfee.
Edit: I figured it out.
I don't know if I like it yet. I guess I have been use to using Norton for so many years. Oh well.
