New firmware for M1000

Looks like Qwest has new firmware up for the Actiontec M1000. Firmware version QAO2.5.

Haven't tried it yet as I am currently using a different modem.

I wonder what's different with this one. Can't see any info on Qwest's site about this firmware.

Same like this one: »New firmware for the M1000

Then some bug fixes:
1. Slow speeds caused by QoS downstream - QoS will be disabled by default.
2. Firewall blocking random sites.
3. With firewall on, modem didnt respond to WAN side pings - firewall will allow WAN side pings as default setting.
4. Changes to DSL modulation required a reboot to save.
5. DSL negotiated mode showing incorrect values
6. Remote management not working
7. Remote management port changes when switching between PPPoA and PPPoE

So if I were to upgrade to 12M service I could keep my M1000?
Or would Qwest still insist on a modem upgrade as well? Sounds like a decent firmware upgrade.

actually the earlier firmware QA 1.5 allows adsl2+ which will enable you to connect with the 12 and 20. i might be wrong.

Thanks for this info.

I remember when they were testing for the 12 and 20 meg line speeds in my area. My M1000 was running around 15meg down, but they later decided the M1000 wasn't stable enough to support the 12 or 20 meg speeds.

I kept my 7 meg speed cause I didn't want to buy a new modem and the speed was fine for me. It will be cool if they offer a (free) upgrade in speed later on, then all of us M1000 owners will be set, providing the speed increase is available in our area.

I'll be upgrading my firmware this weekend.

I recently upgraded from QA1.5 to QA2.5. Aside from the different GUI, the only thing I've noticed is that the Internet LED is now red all the time instead of green. I assume this is because I run in Bridge mode. Doesn't seem to affect how things work, but it looks a little strange.

Installed firmware and I have noticed that I no longer am experiencing issues with page requests. By this I mean that prior to the upgrade, many times I would have to click on a link a couple of times before a page or video would load. I am no longer experiencing that issue and it also seems that pages and videos are loading much faster but that can be debatable as speed can vary due to internet traffic as any given time.

I installed it about a week ago.. I don't see any differences at this point with my 7M. But its good to know it will support the 12M if I decide to upgrade again. I'm getting about 6.1 megabit down and 700 up. So I'm good.

I see that this was posted at the beginning of the month. Does anyone know when the update was actually available? I have been having the same problems and have had several techs out to look since the beginning of November and no one asked me about the FW version I was running. Even the other day, when I got a call confirming moving me to a different DSLAM. (Shaking Head!)

Well I grabbed the updated that is now equally supported for installation on a Mac, it installed easier than it has in the past from my PC, and everything works great and for the moment all the problems I was having are gone.

Thanks for the post! I usually watch these things, but stopped for a while after the last update and just haven't been back to check. You would think that the techs would ask or know. Guess not.

Just upgraded... Websites actually load now. If you haven't upgraded yet, it is a must, improves website loading, and appears to make the modem much more stable.

The slow pagloads were happening with me as well, switched the modem to bridge mode and dialed from my router - pageload issues disappeared... still using older firmware

I was using the m1000 in router mode, installed new firmware, and fixed the page loads, haven't tried m1000 in bridge mode, but i have gone back to my 678(in bridge mode, seems Qwest dsl works better that way) and everything is day and night between the two devices. just my humble opinion.

I'm still having slow page loads. Guess maybe I'll have to switch to bridge mode.

Edit:
Nevermind, the slow page loads seem to be due to another problem I been having...
