Most likely it just fixes the critical flaw that was found.

This thing is getting worse and worse. Now it will not play .flv files which 9.4 at least did. Also will not play some .wav files. The old 8.6 is much better. Also I can never get into their forums to figure anything out.

Thanks for the update!
Do you just install ontop of the previous version?

the installer will remove the old version for you, then re-install for you, right after.

What ltsnow said. I think we have a WinAmp situation here, wherein an older version remains forever better than the new tree.

As what the British would say "This thing is complete Rubbish". I always had problems with it crashing when I tried to play certain mov files and when I go to close it but now it always crashes when I try to play flv video. It is useless now since I have a lot of flv videos. I am done. I uninstalled this crud and I am sticking with the stable K-Lite Codec Pack with Media Player Classic.

It seems like the developers don't even care about the 90% Windows users and just focuses on the 10% of Mac users since it is updated more for them and all we get is crash buggy versions.

Oh yeh, didn't they say a while ago that they didn't have enough people to work on the Windows's version? That could explain the problems. BTW, the new KMPlayer plays everything well, including ra and ram files.

So, I tried to play an .flv file after reading the posts here. It crashed and botched up my (Vista) machine. Uninstalled it in Safe mode, but now neither my wireless mouse or keyboard work. Even did a System Restore.

What a piece of junk.

Thanks Blahh. Here is the link if you want the exe or zip file:

»nightlies.videolan.org/build/win32/latest/

Works great for flv files.

Edit: But that's about all. It still won't play ram files and certain wav files. Of course, neither will 8.6. IMHO, this player has had it's day. KMPlayer and SMPlayer are simply much better--will play absolutely anything you throw at them.
