Besides...I'm all patched up for Lotro:MoM already anyhow... |

| reply to morisato Seriously... I just got the notice in the mail too... impeccable timing
I guess there are clearly some Teksavvy folks not playing WOW. Time to whip out some "Recruit-a-friend" invites so they can conveniently call in sick |

Well, I guess the only thing we can do in this case(as I play WoW myself) is to change out sleeping patterns in the next couple days so you can play WotLK after the maintenance!
That is clearly my plan! -- TSI Jason - TekSavvy Solutions, Inc. Authorized TSI employee (»TekSavvy FAQ »Official support in the forum )

I can hope there's very little downtime! |

| reply to morisato Seriously, this is retarded timing. A little over one day's notice for something that isn't an emergency? You can't tell me the people inside the organization aren't aware of the importance of this day to a large number of their clients (and any other ISP really). |

Wow, some of you are seriously a bit too much... It's a friggin game.
Some of you bitch when there is unscheduled emergency work. Then others bitch that the notice you've been given does not jive with your schedule. Give me a break...
Do you think Bell, Rogers, Shaw, Telus, etc would give a flying fig about your gameplay? The service would simply go down while they do their maintenance.
I'm pretty sure 12am-6am is an industry wide accepted network maintenance window.
Lighten up people. -- GO LEAFS GO! |

| I don't really think people are complaining too much.
For me, WoW has become boring... and I'll be quitting it shortly. They've dumbed down the game so much, that it isnt fun. The ONE thing thats still fun in the game... is racing to max level. It's sort of a contest...see who can be the server first.
With downtime... 6-7 hours worth, that pretty much leaves a big chunk of people out. And this is something that happens once every 2 years... so for some, it's a pretty big deal.
I'd be really annoyed if it happened to me >_ Though... I would understand. I'd probably just get a temp login from another ISP for a month to be sure |

1 edit | reply to morisato You may call it "Just a game" but I've already put $400 into my machine as well as my Wife's and am still planning on forking out another $400 for 2 copies of the game(1 CE and 1 Regular), and the last few things for our systems, JUST for this expantion. I've been playing this game since just after launch and power leveled my current main in under 2 weeks realtime from 0-70 when BC launched..
Wednesday Night/Thursday morning is the single most important night for any serious WoW player over the last 2 years.. They HAD to have known when they scheduled this (considering so many of there own employee's play), or at least anytime before they sent out the emails that this MAJOR MMO event was happening that night. They just obviously dont care.
I've already started looking for a new ISP. Any company who would take down there service at the same time when the Largest MMO game (probably in history) with such a MASSIVE following is launching there BIGGEST Expansion.. Obviously has very little regard for there subscribers.
Can you imagine if you were a cable provider who decided they needed to do maintenance on Superbowl Sunday? (and yes, for hardcore WoW player's, this is the same thing.. biggest day of the year)
Edit: BTW I came to DSL reports to find DSL providers in my area and decided to come in here to see if any other WoW players had anyting to say about this "inconvience" as they are calling it. |
