4 edits | [Serious] A very hard day Anne had her exploratory surgery, and it was not good news.
The tumor is cancerous, and it has spread. Surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation treatment according to her doctor. He said that it will be "tough" to knock out...
don't know what else to say right now.

| Re: [Serious] A very hard day Thank you, my friends. I know that I have to be positive and tough, so that I can help Anne as best I can. She is really scared, and the problem is, so am I. I just want to crawl under a rock right about now...but I can't afford that luxury. -- ...something is happening here but you don't know what it is...do you, Mr. Jones? | |

| Somewhat better news... I guess a day for news to settle-in always helps a bit...
We had another appt. this morning, and had a more in depth explanation as to what the doctor told me.
Although it is a very large tumor, in a tough location, and it has spread, the doctor's explanation of "spread" was not quite what my fears made it.
The cancer has spread somewhat, but not to any other organ, and not to where it is yet likely to "pop up". He believes that though it will be a bear to get rid of, it can be eliminated.
The $64 question is whether radiation and chemo, or surgery will be the best option. Because of it's location, radiation/chemo would be less invasive, because in order to remove it surgically, would literally mean the complete removal of Ann'e nose, and require an "artificial" nose to replace it with. The only potential block with using radiation/chemo would be if the cancer has spread too close to the eyes, as radiation can cause vision loss/blindness if too close to the eye.
We should have a consult with the Oncologist within the next week, andthen we'll know.
Either way, though this is still very serious, and as the doctor said, will be a few very rough months ahead, this is something that we can (and will) deal with together.
I apologize for my attitude yesterday, but I just did not know how to take it all in, and I just felt devastated. But I (we) caught my breath now, and we'll just deal with things as they come. We will do just fine. Thank you all so much for your support and concern...I can not tell you sufficiently how much that means to me! -- ...something is happening here but you don't know what it is...do you, Mr. Jones?

| Re: Somewhat better news... said by Vtblues :No apologies are necessary, it could be prayers answered for strength for all we know, the first of many answered prayers for Anne and you through this. That well may be! There is "inner strength" but support comes from many sources...some obvious, some perhaps not so easy to see, but real, none the less.
I did pray for strength, and I know prayers were sent our way. All I "know" is that I feel like I am back "on my feet", and can help Anne fight through this, and I am grateful whereever the help for me to be in the proper frame of mind comes from!
On a lighter note: One of the ladies at work told me "You are going to need to help your wife with the household chores more now" I think that she misunderstood when I started laughing, but those who know us will tell you that I am already the "housekeeper" at Cazsa del PeteC2...heck, I dust/vacuum, do all the laundry, wash the floors, litter box (for the cat...not me!), etc. Cooking is my only lacking talent on the domestic side...grilling, sandwiches, microwaving and opening cans are about my only culinary skills -- ...something is happening here but you don't know what it is...do you, Mr. Jones?
