[COLORADO] I've got WOOD!

lol

Seriously though. Moved into a new place, and there was a small to medium sized wood pile. Unfortunately, the pile was not covered, and so I can only assume that it's been sitting there for probably 3 years (the length of time the previous tenant/owner lived there).

Is the wood salvageable, or should I just toss it. Tried putting one of the logs in the fireplace, but it just doesn't want to burn... Even with one of those fire-logs next to it, all it did was char and when the fire log was done, everything died out

Was thinking I could cover it, but how long would it take to dry out and become usable?

It should be salvageable but depending on how soaked it is it might take quite some time to dry out enough to be usable and once dry depending on how old and possibly rotten it is it might burn like paper.

You might be able to get some pieces dried out enough to burn well by bringing them indoors and letting your inside temps dry the wood. Again depending on how wet they are this might take a couple of days or weeks.

Well there's too much to move it all inside. Stack is probably 10 feet long by 2.5 feet high.

I thought about just putting a tarp or two over it. If its going to take more than a few months to become usable though, I'm not going to bother. Turns out I'm not going to be buying this place after all. Converted my lease from a rent-to-own into a standard rental and will be moving again this coming August...The market is just too unstable at this point and there's no way I can see myself able to come up with an additional 5 to 10 percent down on top of the 5% option money that was being set aside.

Don't need to bring in the whole stack just a few pieces to see how long they take to dry out and what they burn like once they're dry.

Not a bad size stack, you can try a tarp, who knows it might dry out enough in a couple of weeks to be usable.

Know what you mean about the market stability. BethAnne's parents lost around $100k with the crash and are really worried about finances.
