Re: Dumping Bell Home Phone Because Of CRTC ruling

Hey there,

The thing is if you are wanting to PORT your TN over from Bell, you must not cancel the service. If you wish to give them 30 days notice, the proper way of doing this is to have us place the connection for 30 days out.

Regards,
Andre

Can a number be ported over from Voip? I've got a Vonage line and it would be nice to keep the number.

We are able to port most VOIP numbers. If the number has never been in the Bell database, the conversion may take up to 6 months.

The key thing to remember, is that we need to provide to Bell the reseller and CLEC (NON-BELL) provider.

As an example:

Reseller: Vonage - Provides service to the end user.
CLEC: Rogers - Provides the physical service to Vonage.

Hope this answers the question.

Andre

Okay now I am confused. There are horror stories in this forum about Bell charging cancellation fees and such. You are saying I should just get Teksavvy to switch me over?

If I do this what fallback do I have if I get charged the cancellation fee? Will Teksavvy take care of it for me?

Hey Tim Bits,

A few months back, we had a customer call in and inquire to us how to provide Bell 30 days of notice. We placed an inquiry to Bell, and their management team advise us that we need to place an order dated 30 days out to have the customer give their notice.

That being said, I have had many customers tell me that they called Bell and told them: "I am letting you know that I will be switching my phone service to another provider in 30 days." Customer called in 5-10 days before that "30 days period", and they were not charged anything.

If you get charged after placing the order 30 days out, this is something we can go to Bell about, however it hasn't happened yet.

Regards,
Andre

Okay cool. That makes me feel more comfortable about it.

The only downside is that I don't get the pleasure of telling Bell the reason that I am leaving them is because of throttling and outsourcing of jobs outside of Canada. It is an important message they need to get.
