4 edits | Phenom 2 is not out yet! Nobody has benched it!
So why are people automatically deciding, in this forum, it won't even as much as compete with Core i7?

The phenom 2 X4 will be out Januaray 2009 and Feb 2009.
I'd truly love to know, what time machines you guys have and how you got benches for the Phenom 2 X4.
If the way people in this forum wish to help a person when choosing from a currently released cpu and a cpu that releases in jan and feb, in march, by telling them that it won't compete, then please show me benches of a cpu that is not out yet and hasn't been benched.
I'm sorry if I upset the obvious Intel fanboys of this forum, but I for one try to wait for benches before deciding a cpu is not gonna compete.
Lemme give you guys a little backstory.
I bought the Conroe chip pretty much at launch (give or take a month).
Now at the time, AMD ruled pretty much all. You could basically see why, AMD had Socket 7, Socket 939, Socket AM2, while Intel had thrown out disasters of the P4 and Pentium D.
At the time of Conroe benches, forums were full of rabid AMD fanboyism. People didn't believe the benches, people still wanted AMD.
I bought Conroe because I liked benches, not because I liked AMD or Intel. This current Intel fanboyism reminds me perfectly of the at the time AMD fanboyism.
I'm not gonna say Phenom 2 X4 is AMD's conroe. I'm not gonna say it will blow everything away. But I WILL say if and when AMD's conroe comes, the people buying it will be people who have an open mind. And just like how people at the time bought the inferior AMD products out of fanboyism, so will the Intel fanboys. |

| Here's the thing. Do I expect Phenom 2 will defeat Core i7?
Hell no!
But I always like to check all competition.
I also notice that what's going on at AMD is hauntingly familiar to Intel.
Years of flat out defeat, launching products with higher clock speeds at lower prices...
If the Phenom X2 is this good at overclocking, what I'm more interested in is the obvious paralells to it and the Pentium D...
And Conroe came shortly after. |

1 edit | reply to Metatron2008 Are you being serious? You just asked in the other thread for us to 'plan' AKA predict the future and tell you if Phenom 2 overclocked would be better then Nehalem. Now you have created this thread telling us that the benchmarks aren't out yet, and we shouldn't be making any judgements?
Huh?
(Hint, part of what we were trying to tell you in the other thread is that the benches aren't out yet for Phenom II, and we can't tell you what will happen) -- THIS IS SPENCER. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED - I HAVE JOE. RETURNING TO BASE. |

And you weren't saying anything about benches not being out. All you said was that Core i7 will defeat it. |

You should post this in the thread in this forum where some winner is asking people to use their crystal balls to predict benchmark performance scores 6 months in the future. You'd really set him straight. -- Interested in open source engine management for your Subaru? |
