it still stands, that running PAL games on a american PS3 does not completely work(works, but not to the same extent as an NTSC game). |

Any PS3 game from any region will play in any PS3. However, there is the special situation when you try to play back the game in Standard Definition. If the PS3 game only has Standard Definition and Enhanced Definition for either PAL (576i and 576p) or NTSC (480i and 480p), your PS3 must have the same Standard Definition and Enhanced Definition format support, or you won't be able to play it. This is not a problem if you play the game in High Definition (720p, 1080i, 1080p), but there exists the possibility to region lock (based on Blu-ray game region) games if the publisher decides to do so. All PS3 games have a serial number containing a four character prefix, followed by a five digit suffix. The following are the common prefix for PS3 games: :edit: Not sure what NTCS is, so changed NTCS to NTSC... why you quoting me when someone else said they have a PAL ps3. |

said by Silvanos :I thought the PS3 wasn't region coded. it is but isen't, you are still required to match PAL tv's with PAL output devices and PAL games.
notice even without the region coding, on the boxes of every game there is written NTSC, and PAL for euro releases.
which mostly effects the lower display resolutions, so you HAVE to have an HD set to use the region free. |

Oh and that $50 only covers ONE profile. If everyone wants to have their own account you need to spend $50 PER PERSON. Who the hell runs cords across their floors? it's pretty damn easy to run cable through the house.
I don't understand your title "another victory for the 360" are you selling your 2 PS3's? if not I don't see how it's a victory for M$. -- Any it new they in one. You here for mine you here. -JV |

Unless you're happy with a ethernet cord running across your floor. Oh and that $50 only covers ONE profile. If everyone wants to have their own account you need to spend $50 PER PERSON. I ordered a charge kit, and have wired ethernet in the game area, even our Wii uses wired ethernet. The years membership was about $39 and some change. I do not like paying an annual membership fee, however that seems to be how Microsoft has set it up.
You seem to get more for the money from the PS3 with respect to controllers and no online fees. At the same time, despite having a ridiculous failure rate, alleged vacuum cleaner noises when playing games, and other issues, there are many fans of the Xbox 360. In about a month, I hope to understand more about it.
I'm so concerned about Xbox 360 hardware issues, that instead of buying two consoles as was done with the Wii and PS3, my acquisition this year will be of just one. The Xbox 360 has been out for some time, and I'm wondering why it still seems to have significant issues.
Edit: Corrected approximate annual gold membership price -- "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use." |

It is a victory for Xbox 360 as described in my first post. As for the red lights, and possible noise from the DVD drive ... eventually one day we all hope Microsoft will resolve it once and for all. Though I won't have direct experience with the Xbox 360 until Christmas when we open ours. I'm ordering a bunch of Xbox 360 stuff and hope the console works well once it is plugged in. You can get a year for $55 with a headset, chatpad, and Project Gotham 4 right now. You'd have to be a fool to pay more than 40 bucks for Live alone. »www.buy.com/prod/xbox-360-live-1···616.html
