What does the Bell Aliant merger mean wrt throttling?

Does anyone know how the throttling that Bell is doing figures in to internet service offered by Aliant? Presumably the cynical point of view is that they intend on throttling all Bell Aliant internet services eventually. Right now though I'm assuming that they don't have the hardware in place for this sort of thing yet, right?

They may not have the hardware but I'd say it's almost inevitable since Aliant uses the Bell Nexxia (was nexxia) network for transit.

Who knows? With the amount of subscribers out there it would cost Bell at least ten times more to throttle than to not throttle.

I think Aliant is still operated like if it was its own entity... The sync rates are different, I prices/deals are different, etc...

The only thing that have in common is their cell phone services. For DSL they even don't uses the same modems.

Some of the modems are the same, namely the Siemens 6520 and the DSL has always been backhauled over Bell's ATM network.
