Fiber Slow speeds

even dialup is fiber opitc fast because at some point it runs over FIBER!
Are you saying that I can get these speeds with my dialup?
you can get high speed over analog

broadband over power lines
500 kilobits and 3 megabits per second

right now i am running a analog network that gets 32 to 40mbps
much faster then 11g

As I said before, just ignore all of the anonymous users that just keep coming back. There is a valid reason why they never registered.

I've done a 12ms ping to a Quake 3 server just outside of NYC in 5 hops from Southern NH which has to be over 200 miles and that was 8 years ago.

Youve probably had something constantly running in the back (process) on your previous version of Windows. My ping times are exact on xp vista or win 7.
Perhaps you're right, a more accurate test would be to do a speed test off a fresh install of XP, since that's basically what I did with Windows 7.

If anyone wants to test this for themselves, after downloading the Windows 7 Beta (which I'm currently using now, it's fricking fast) my ping times have been cut in half.

XP:

Vista:

Wow. How do you get 10 ms ping to a server 100 miles away. I get 8 ms ping just to my cmts.

Real Speed - 01-12-09
"I'm wondering if I can believe these speed tests".

The real simple answer is NO!

It really amazes me at the stupidity of people posting up these speed tests.

BTW this was posted during a 283.9 KB/s header download from BH's newshosting server... a little slow to say tonight. Will try GigaNews later.
