[COLORADO] Stoopid Hurricane Force Winds...

Click for full size
Woke up this morning to the sound of major windage. (Not the kind you get after eating a lot of beans...)

Looked outside and noticed that both of my retractable shades on the back porch are thrashed (and thrashing in the wind). They were latched down last night. Guess I should have rolled 'em up...

So I get in my car to go to work and as I'm driving down Baptist road, as the small gravel and wood chips were flying through the air I thought to myself, I hope I can make it to work without any glass getting chipped by this stuff. I already had to replace the driver door window once last winter.

Sitting at the light waiting to get on the freeway, as the light turned green for me to go, I see this huge cloud of dust and dirt flying straight for me as a gust of wind picked up.

As I am turning, the dust/dirt cloud envelops my jeep and I hear a loud ping. Figured it was a rock hitting the side of the car or something. No big deal.

About 10 miles down the road I notice through my rear view mirror that the passenger side quarter glass was completely shattered, but still intact...

Luckily I just added the jeep to my insurance policy. $100 deductible for glass. There goes my new years eve party money...

Damn wind. At least it didn't shatter completely off and cause me to have to drive to work with the wind entering the jeep and giving me a bad hair day...

In retrospect, when I had that first thought about the glass chipping I should have just turned around and went home to work from home for the day...

I feel your pain. My mother-in-law (in Arvada) had a small-medium sized tree blow over early this morning. Time to bring over the hacksaw, and see how extensive the damage to her fence is...

Today was trash pickup day. You can guess what the driveway looked like in the morning

Can't wait to get home and assess any other damage that may have occurred.

It's not hurricane force in Centennial but it sure makes riding a bike challenging! Most of the higher speed winds tend to be in the foothills this time of year. Gotta love the warmer temps with the down slope winds! Sorry about the damage you took.

This morning they said they clocked a 104 MPH wind up near Denver. They were around 50 MPH at my house, and around 84 MPH a couple miles south of me...

Well it's too dark to see anything at the moment. Guess I'll check in the morning...
