New Studio Upgrade, Jan 2009

New Studio, Jan 2009
'Been busy upgrading my studio from it's formerly very un-ergonomic single desk, to this U-shaped config.
Got the desks from Bush Furniture, which form a great modular workstation.

Installed two quad core editing stations, each with 30" displays, a new 24/48 Ch mixing desk, and rearranged my MIDI music gear for easy access while accessing recording and tracking. On the right are an array of Kurzweil, Yamaha and Roland gear.

BTW, the only camera I owned that's capable of taking a good still is my XDCam EX, which is what took this picture below. My D-SLR is just too noisy and doesn't color balance well in mixed fluorescent and CFL lighting.

P-touch 65 FTW. I have one myself.

Nice setup. My brother is into this sort of thing (a little bit), but his setup is much less glamorous.

Someone really knows their P-touch labelers. I've had that one for ten years; used it for cable labeling on countless radio studio builds.

My main line these days is video and sound production; we do our own music soundtracks as it is cheaper to buy the gear than to deal with lawyers and copyright trying to buy someone else's music for every project that needs it.

I also record symphony orchestras, and do mixdowns in 5.1 ch surround. That's why we need the 8-bus mixer.

Hey, with the economy the way it is, self-employed folks need to be in a constant state of marketing their skills.

workstation cables right
You're seeing the cables from an old workstation that is sitting behind the desk and which is about to be decomissioned. There are a few stray cables that will be removed in a week or so after we're done moving settings from old systems to new.
There's a bit more to do, including overhead LED tracklighting, but we're almost done and the studio is already in operation.

I've got the same Bush desk series. The smaller desk on the right section is pretty unstable. Attach it to the one to its left.

Heres what mine looks like..

My desks are called Series A; yours are the same finish, but slight difference in style with the curved edges. That's an elegant office with all the tapestries in place BTW.
I got my four pieces of furniture for about $700 at Cymax Stores online, delivered. Took exactly 30 days from order to delivery date, but I'm very happy with the quality at the price.
I don't find the 36" desk to be unstable. It is important to make sure the leveling feet are adjusted so that the table doesn't rock back and forth. And I push all the desks up against eachother so they form a unified work surface.

What computer cases are you using? They look sweet!

@snet.net
The computer cases are Silverstone TJ-06 models.
No IBM gear here. Are you referring to the monitor displays? Those are HP.

I think he meant the computer keyboard.

IBM model M s feel great, last forever and are good for self defense.
