Re: Additionally

There's splitterless DSL today that uses filters.

There should be no need for a truck roll to install a DSL splitter.

When I had DSL a few years ago, Verizon gave me a self install kit that had the modem, power adapter, phone cord, a CD and a few filters. No tech had to come and install anything.

Exactly. With AT&T it all came in a nice little self install box.

Actually, anyone too stupid to do a self-install in today's market probably shouldn't have a computer anyway.

I see, so essentially you are assuming that I am not able to do a self-install and you obliquely calling me stupid. You really should have clicked on the I do not wish to post link before you published this little nugget of your "wisdom."

I would have agreed with you had I not experienced two different provisioning nightmares with Verizon.

Self-install counts on good instructions and the back-end technology that works. Verizon had neither.

What you do at Christmas does not matter so much; What counts are the Christmas things you do all year through.

some companies in Ohio do not provide this. It's called a truck roll no matter what and still wait for everything.

Same here for the cable company locally. No self install, $75 charge.

Oddly enough, the only one applying the 'stupid' label to you is, well, you. But nice try.

That was pretty much the norm awhile back but (at least here in AT&T territory) self-install is very much plug and play now.

Yeah, well my disasters were April and November of 2008.

Verizon's got a great network but terrible back-office and support systems.

LMAO. "Nice try" at what? You're entitled to your opinion as I am to mine.

And i forgot our cable company does the same thing. But when they do it they actually run a new HSI line from the tap to the house (at least they were going to do that for me), replaced the grounding block and a few other things. So couldn't complain about the install charge which is $20.00
