On the surface this sounds like a good, pro-consumer pick. Does anyone know where to find any more information about him?
He is a lawyer & money guy and not really a technologist though he has been involved in the money & legal affairs of various technology companies.

Genachowski was Chief of Business Operations and a member of Barry Diller's Office of the Chairman at IAC/InterActiveCorp. He had previously served on the Boards of Directors of Expedia, Hotels.com and Ticketmaster.[1]

He is a co-founder of LaunchBox Digital and Rock Creek Ventures. [2] He is also a special advisor at General Atlantic and a member of the Boards of Directors at The Motley Fool, Website Pros, Mark Ecko Enterprises, and Beliefnet.[2]

Genachowski serves as a board member of Common Sense Media, a leading organization seeking to improve the media lives of children and families; and as an advisory board member of Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2). He also recently helped found the New Resource Bank, the country’s first commercial “green bank.” [1]

He is the father of three children and is married to Rachel Goslins, a documentary filmmaker. His parents are immigrants who survived the Holocaust.
The views of a venture capitalist who loves him:

From what I have read, he looks like he will be another captive of the Hollywood crowd and I would expect the main cause of high cable/sat/telco TV rates(content providers) will get a free ride at the FCC.

Thanks Tk. Believe it or not, I disagree that he will be in the pocket of Hollywood based on what you posted. He's on the board of some pretty impressive dot com startups that survived ... although he is involved with Ticketmaster ... Ticketmaster is IMHO pond scum.
