I found a spare computer in my sister's garage and found out it was better than what my dad uses. It run pretty good, but I would like to not have him use the onboard video. Going through my things, I found an old video card in a box, but besides knowing it's a Nvidia card (it says so on the card), I have no idea what model it is. I know it's nothing fancy, but it has to be better than using on board video. Think anyone can figure out what it is by the pictures I have attached? Or will I need to just install it and have Windows XP tell me? I want to have the drivers downloaded before I install it.

From the look, may be Vanta, TNT etc... XP should have native driver for it.

I'll throw it in there and see what it does. Thanks!

Onboard video is probably better.

The default XP driver says it is a MX440.

The motherboard model is a VIA chipset M266 running a 2.0 GHz Celron. (»www.shopping.com/xPF-Asrock-ASRo···idge-VIA) Do you think the onboard is better than what is on this board? It currently only has 190 MB of ram, if I used onboard then 32MB will be dedicated to video. And the computer has XP Pro installed.

The computer will not be used for any gaming. And I'm sure my dad would have survived with the on board video. But I wanted to maximize the RAM it has.

IMHO - Any video card is better than a onboard video. The onboard video uses system ram, and uses system CPU processes. An add-on video card has its own memory, and uses less CPU power.

HP Part # makes this an MX440 w/ 64 Meg of ram and NTSC Video Out.

It's not much of a card by today's standards, but with limited RAM in the PC, and just using it for surfing/email/office stuff (assuming, from the "no gaming" comment) - I'd use the card.

Thanks everyone for the help and the suggestions. I'm sticking with the video card. Just got it updated to SP3 and it runs well. My dad should be very happy with this. He'll actually be able to use Youtube video smoothly now.
