[POLL] File Managers - 2009 Member Choice

File Managers
"A file manager or file browser is a computer program that provides a user interface to work with file systems. The most common operations used are create, open, edit, view, print, play, rename, move, copy, delete, attributes, properties, search/find, and permissions. Files are typically displayed in a hierarchy. Some file managers contain features inspired by web browsers, including forward and back navigational buttons." Wikipedia

In other words, File Managers provide a way for you to work with all the files on your computer, such as through Windows' Explorer, Mac's Finder, or Linux KDE's Konqueror.

Not all file managers could be listed here, so for a nice comparison of file managers from this list and beyond, check out this excellent Comparison of file managers from Wikipedia.

The list below is sorted by platform (Windows-Mac-Linux) and then alphabetically within the platform.

Wowza - amazing list, QuaffAPint See Profile

Thanks so much for the great poll!

I have installed on one of my work machines, (though not used as much anymore) Q-Dir. Very handy for managing folders - and USB portable, too

I checked "other", though perhaps it should have been "none".

My file manager is my brain operating at the command line interface. Usually that's via an xterm window in linux, though occasionally it is via a command prompt in windows.

Windows Explorer, only because I haven't invested the time to try other things.
But I do cut out bits and pieces as I can..
Use TurboSearcher for search functions,
Irfanview/Faststone Image viewer to work with graphics,
MPC or VLC to play files
TuneUp 2007 for registry editing...
