I can't find specific links for ASA config register setting changes but am assuming that they are the same as a router.
i.e change configuration register to 0x2142 to force to boot from FLASH. Is this accurate ?

incorrect. cisco asa's default config register value is 0x01. 0x2102 for a cisco router.

0x2142 to force boot from flash? what 0x2142 does is it ignores the startup config.
