| MyFairpoint accessIs anyone else having trouble logging into www.myfairpoint.net? Mail seems to be working other then getting a lot more spam then I did with Verizon.
Issue 1: When I try to log into "My account" from www.myfairpoint.net get a quick popup about Javascript error then this. Happens on both IE and Firefox
WE'RE SORRY!
We apologize for this inconvenience, but online access to
My Account is currently unavailable. Please come back in
the near future to access your account online.
We appreciate your patience as this is only a temporary
situation.
Issue 2: If I try to log at "sign in" at the top of the page it does not recognize my credentials either primary email address or alias. I've also noticed Fairpoint's digital cert only works for www.myfairpoint.net. If you leave off the www subdomain home page loads correctly but get an invalid cert error message when attempting to log in.
I have no idea what the two different log in are for.
Thank heaven DSL continues to work and I can ignore the other stuff.
Still have not heard anything about Usenet.

 | Issue 1: While I was messing around I noticed the "My account" link worked for a short time after the initial changeover. Only problem is nobody (well, myself anyways) had the necessary info to log in with (supposedly being supplied with the first non-Verizon Fairpoint bill). Now, since about two or three weeks ago, the "My Account" link directs you to the error listed above. Meh. Online billing account info and payment will come sometime this year (crossing my fingers!).
Issue 2: Logging into the "Welcome, Sign-In" link on both www.myfairpoint.net and myfairpoint.net works fine for me (using vzexxxxx@myfairpoint.net). No digital certificate errors to report. Possible browser problems on your end? Not too big a deal, as I find the Fairpoint home page to be lacking in usefulness.
Yes, as long as my FIOS (erm...FAST) is up and running perfectly, I'm a happy camper. If Fairpoint somehow messes that up, I'll be right in line with the other Fairpoint "haters" |

 | I was originally able to "sign in" and manage my account from the main myfairpoint.net page, But now I also get the apology. /tom noticed this on 3/2. It's now 3/7. How long will this "temporary situation" last?

| FireFox error | IE error |

Is this error message still showing up when people try to log in to My Account? Yup - I just noticed FairPoint does not support FireFox. Tried both IE and FF. Same error on both. I can't believe they don't support FF, never occurred to me to check.

1 edit | FWIW - Verizon did not support FF either. Back when I called VZ support to report an outage I had to go through a 20 minute IE drill (delete cookies, set security, etc.) before they would escalate the outage to the network team. If I called with FF the support drones would say "unsupported browser",bye bye. |

1 edit | said by DrSmith:FWIW - Verizon did not support FF either. Interesting, didn't realize that. I try to use BBR and other on line resources to troubleshoot problems. It is a sorry state of affairs when calling the vendor is a customer's last resort.
I can only image what I'd go through if I had to call tech support. I've been a DSL customers since 2000. At that time Verizon was using dumb modems running PPPoE on PC. Haven't used that setup in years.
Checking stats on my Web site: FF is about 60% with IE at 30%

1 edit | Yes, I too have had DSL since 2000 and try to get everything I can off forums and web sites. But we're on some sort of remote office link. And there was a router/repeater in the RO that occasionally wigged out. Unfortunately this meant my local copper DSL line tested out fine, but I still had no connectivity. So, there I am with an 800 number, and total dread, to report the outage.
This situation completely befuddles all first line VZ support staff and they always forced me through an idiotic flow chart of browser configuration and PC connection settings before escalating. Once escalated the problem was usually fixed in 24 hours.
One time I actually signed up for premium support to bypass the IE setup insanity. Then I had to call back and remind them to drop the premium support charge, since the problem was in their equipment, not mine. |
