What is it.

Hello All,

A few months ago they put new taller telephone poles on our street. I noticed these things and was wondering what they are for.

It's an AT&T Super Spy Scope. Instead of the annoying email surveys they are sending out, they train the camera on your house and take snapshots of telecommunication activities within the domicile.

It's clearly a Pipe Bomb and needs to be reported to Homeland Security who will blow it up along with the nearby houses and disrupt power and communications for blocks around.

There are about a dozen on my street, they seem to be random. Sometimes there are two or three poles in a row with them. They are on Todd Road in Wolcott CT and some of todd's side streets.

1. Sleeves of some kind for future power lines/phone lines/CATV/FTTH/FTTN.

2. Directional microwave antennae with built-in repeaters. Someone is using microwave frequencies for some type of remote sensing, remote control or other data transfer.

3. Did you check for free wi-fi using Netstumbler?

I'd like to know what these are too!

They are all over Danbury.

Could these be full of holy water to keep Comcast HSI away?

Is that a guess or for sure? That sort of thing I would expect to be carried on a truck.

It's certainly the right shape, though. I just saw an episode on those on "How It's Made" ...
