Westell 327w medium firewall / port forwarding?

I've found my self at home for a few months, and stuck behind my father's dsl connection.

Question is this, he insists on having router firewall set to medium. With this setting certain ports such as 3724, (this is for world of warcraft and ventrillo if your wondering) are blocked.

We've tried port forwarding the needed ports thru the services page, on the router and I see the * note saying that the firewall will over ride port forwarding services. and it seems true, if firewalls set to Medium, the ports wont forward.

Is there another setting, such as setting my ip static NAT, and allowing it to be unprotected by firewall? and where might I find it in the routers settings pages?

Anyway, thanks in advance.

Ok, on a side note, I've seen trying to edit the Inbound and outbound of Custom firewall settings, I think the answer might be there, but I'm not 100% sure on how to edit it to allow tcp in and out for just my computer.

If anything, there's probably no need to have the firewall set past "Low" unless you really need such a sense of security. Low will protect the network from a decent amount of attacks, while still allowing use of the internet. My personal preference at least in my case, is to have the modem's firewall OFF and have the NAT capabilities of the modem take over in a way. Yeah, it doesn't offer the same amount of protection as having the firewall on, but NAT at least will drop random connections and such. In your case, if your father insists that the firewall must remain in the medium zone, you could run your PC in the DMZ *TEMPORARILY* which will pretty much forward all ports to the PC in question and switch off the firewall completely for that PC. Just note though, that as soon as you are done with your gaming and such to switch off the DMZ, as otherwise the computer is wide open for an attack.

Last I checked a DMZ should always override the firewall unless Verizon did something whacko to the firmware. Port Forwarding, sure I understand that.

normally it does, ive seen before where the firmware code breaks and it doesnt open up the DMZ, for most routers DMZ does override the firewall.
