[ fiber tech] Verizon FIOS in Fresh Meadows/Flushing

They have been wiring up 73rd Ave for FIOS in fresh meadows. Yesterday March 12 they ran fiber to the backyards for 197th street between 73rd ave and 75th ave. Interestingly this area is hooked to hollis CO. We also received regular mail saying FIOS is coming soon. So looks like we are close.

Good to hear.

As usual, still no FIOS in the areas that are actually served by the FLUSHING CO.

Anyone here any news about this CO?

Nope, no news at all. At this point I don't think the Flushing CO will never release FIOS.

The other side of the LIE in Fresh Meadows has been wired/running for about the last year or two in most areas.

They are not served by the Flushing CO.

Never mind, I forgot Fresh Meadows was included in this list.

Good news, just got an email from a Verizon Business Development Manager. Most of Flushing will be able to receive FIOS by the fall. This is good news!!

Not to be negative, but what is the definition of "most."

Flushing is a very big area, there is the downtown commerical district, apartment complexes, single family homes, and MDUs.

Which areas are included in "most"?

This is good news indeed.

I'm going to assume apartments might be last.

Here is the person I contacted originally: andrew.p.perdek@verizon.com. Andrew put me in touch with Kenneth Solomon, Business Development Manager. You might want to ask them questions as to which areas are included.

More good news. My area (Booth Memorial & Kissena) should be ready by August.

I'm in Fresh Meadows on 185th St & 73td Ave but I come out of the North Jamaica C.O. Still no signs of Fios here. I've seen lots of Verizon trucks on the other side of 73rd Ave.

Just a heads up. Verizon is working on Main Street and Kissena intersection. They had the manholes open and working underground.

Yea, that's what I am waiting on. It looks like they just started running lines. I hope they have it ready by the end of summer. I am getting sick of Time Warner.

Flushing was being worked on for awhile.

Hopefully with Elmhurst and Flushing being done, Forest Hills will come next after you guys are done.

Live on 73 and 189th. Verizon just updated their database. People who were just wired on 73rd coming from the hollis station should be fios live (both tv and internet). Just put in my order for today!

Good news I see more permits ongoing for Flushing.

Nothing in the database yet for Forest Hills.
