[NFL] Browns WR Stallworth hits, kills Fla. pedestrian

No arrest at the scene so hopefully, pending blood test results, he was clean and it was truly a tragic accident.

Browns' Stallworth Reportedly Drunk in Fatal Crash

MIAMI (AP) -A Miami television station and newspaper are reporting that blood tests show that Cleveland Brown wide receiver Donte Stallworth was driving drunk when he fatally struck a pedestrian last weekend.

WSVN-TV reported Thursday that unnamed sources with knowledge of the investigation say that Stallworth's blood-alcohol level was .12. The legal limit is .08. The Miami Herald also reported Thursday that an unnamed source says Stallworth's blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit.

The Miami Beach Police Department is refusing to confirm the reports.

No charges have been filed against the 28-year-old Stallworth. Neither his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, nor his attorney, Robert Switke, returned calls from The Associated Press seeking comment.

Victim Mario Reyes died Saturday after being struck by Stallworth's Bentley at 7 a.m. He had just finished an overnight shift at the Port of Miami and was walking to a bus stop. Browns' Stallworth Reportedly Drunk in Fatal Crash

His field sobriety video is towards the end of the page and near the end the officer informs him that the woman he hit has died from her injuries.

Right-- he wasn't trashed. You think that's going to matter?

He was over the legal limit while driving a car, and hit and killed a pedestrian.

He's in deep shit-- even if the pedestrian was crossing the road illegally, which he probably was.

Why? The girl was crossing the street where she shouldn't have been.

Doesn't matter, he committed DUI manslaughter. She could have been doing cartwheels down the road but he was drunk and killed someone. he will do some time and I'm sure the NFL will suspend him as well.

Detective Juan Sanchez, a spokesman for the Miami Beach police, would not confirm the results of the toxicology report.

"That has not been released or confirmed by us," Sanchez said by phone. "They went with that story without confirming it with us." Sanchez added that although results of Stallworth's blood test are due Friday, "we will not be releasing those results until we make an arrest."

WSVN also reported that police and Stallworth's lawyer, Robert Switke, are negotiating the terms of his surrender. Switke, reached by the Herald Thursday, said of the test results, "I have not seen them, and I have no comment."

Police have said Stallworth is cooperating fully with the probe.

Reportedly his Blood alcohol level was .14, almost twice the legal limit. That's not good. even with a plea deal he's going to jail.

Craig McTavish of the NHL spent a year in prison due to the exact same thing when he played in Boston.

A high school acquaintance of mine sister got 5 years for pulling out in front of speeding motorcycle. The motorcycle was going about 75 mph but she blew .10 or something. She had 2 young kids at the time. This was about 10 years ago. Of course they weren't rich and couldn't afford a big time lawyer.

I doubt the Athlete will get 5 years but he should get more than 1 year.

To be fair, there has been a huge change in attitude considering drunk driving over the past 25 years. When McTavish was sentenced in 1983, his actions would have been considered an unfortunate accident. Today, drunk driving causing death is practically considered pre-meditated, which it should be.

Mind you StallworÞh will have high priced lawyers, so I'm guessing he'll end up with something like 3 years.

I want him dead period. He commited cold blooded murder.

If he gets off, then the system owes Vick an apology and a large sum of cash.

Because that would mean we place a higher value on dogs vs humans.

Failing him getting executed, he should get locked up for 10 years, and never given a liscense to drive.

But I understand the blleding hearts out there and the dog lovers will all cry out in out rage and sob for him saying "oh its his first time, everyone is entitled to 1 mistake"

etc etc etc.

I say send a message and kill him or lock him up for life.
