| [Fiber Pics] Cable TV/Fiber Optic ISP
Greetings,
Currently we use TW RoadRunner and cable service. Verizon is laying FO cable down our street and the service should be available soon. Since both the cable tv and broadband connection are currently using coax, is there going to be any issues or problem with using the same coax lines in the house for Verizon ISP and TW Cable? It doesn't seem like there would be, but I just don't know for sure.

| Not sure I understand the question. Are you saying you will be signing up for Verizon FIOS TV and continue being a RR Cable subscriber? If so will need to install separate Coax network as FIOS TV and Cable TV services use the same frequencies.
If you are discontinuing RR Cable then there is no problem.
If you are only signing up for FIOS Internet access there is no problem as that uses standard Ethernet twisted pair wiring. FIOS supports Broadband over coax, mainly to eliminate need to run Coax and Twisted pair to each set-top box. That is compatible with Cable TV but I think Verizon would be highly unlikely to piggyback broadband over coax if coax is still being used by Cable provider.

Ok, you are saying that you think trying to run verizon fios piggybacked with TimeWarner cable on the same coax lines coming into the house is not likely. So Verizon has determined that if you want to use them as an ISP, you also have to use them as your cable provider, unless you want to string a new coax from their box to wherever your modem/router is in the house. That stinks. Thanks for the info. |

When I first signed up for FIOS the TV was not available. The service tech was going to tap into my existing coax network, which at the time provided Comcast TV service. He said that the FIOS internet runs at a higher frequency and would not interfere with the Comcast TV (I have no idea if that is true). He changed his mind when he saw I had a drop amp connected to the coax network. He said the drop amp would interfere with the FIOS signal so he ran cat5e from the ONT to the router. |

1 )If you order only internet verizon will connect it to your choice of location for the router
2) If this can not be done by isolating a homerun or easily running a new coax to the location there is another option
3) A Moca NId allows Verizon to piggyback its WAN signal on the same network as Cable TV. (this will not work with Satellite TV)
In areas that offer fios tv and internet this does not happen to often. Mainly because of the price due to the bundling discounts |

If there was a conflict Verizon would replace or run new lines during install. |

Verizon can use a Moca Nid which piggybacks over the existing cable without interfering with the current cable provider. If there is an amp that changes things because the Moca signal can not be amplified. |
