A Note From Your Mod

Hi,

I just wanted to clear a few things up before the forum gets any worse because as all of you can see, and some of you are contributing to, it's not particularly friendly in here lately.

1. There is no conspiracy theory behind deleted posts or locked threads etc. I don't care whether you think Cogeco is awesome or if you think it sucks, I really don't. Things get deleted because of "how" you say things, not "what" your opinion is.

-Trolling (intentionally starting things to derail a thread) will result in a delete and possibly a warning or a watch or ban. If things have gotten out of hand in a thread after the troll bait is taken, all those posts will get deleted too.

-Flaming (calling people names, insults etc) will result in the same as above.

-Off Topic (what tends to happen after the trolling and the flaming start) will result in the same as above.

-Other (swearing, anything else that doesn't fit above but goes against site policy) will result in the same as above.

2. Some other things to keep in mind that are frowned upon and seem to be increasing in frequency.

-Duplicate accounts - they will be removed, they are against site policy.

-Anonymous posting, especially with the clear intent to flame, troll and otherwise throw out off topic commentary will be subject to immediate delete. I do not want to discourage anonymous posting, but I do want to make it clear that anonymous posting must be done RESPONSIBLY.

Just as a final note, nobody that administers this site cares whether you love your ISP or you hate it. I get that some people are pissed off and I get that some people are also fiercely loyal but what I don't get is why anyone would want to present their arguments in a way that's guaranteed to get deleted. If you want your voices to be heard, try presenting yourself in a manner that abides by this website's rules. If you don't like someone, you can block them and you won't see their posts. If you're just here to cause trouble, go find something better to do. You aren't hurting Cogeco by making a mess of this forum because this is an independent third party forum that's not affiliated with Cogeco Cable in any official capacity. It was once a nice little forum where the employees would help out when they had time, unofficially, but now, I don't blame them for finding better things to do with their time.

So, in closing, give it some thought. Why are you here and what is it that you want to accomplish? And if you actually have something productive to say, how you might be able to present it better so as to promote discussion, not a flame war.

I think people tend to get highly offended when they are wrong and attempt to argue by " any means necessary"

if we could all just have a civil discussion and keep our feelings to ourselves. Maybe this will work =)
