Problem setting up with TP-Link 8616
Wondering if anyone can help out with getting me set up with my TP-Link 8616 modem. Getting the 678(?) error, i.e. timed out. Did hardware set up with a Teksavvy techie without results. I've been told that it's either a problem with the modem problem or my line in the apartment building. (Bell says that everything is synced and working fine from their end).
Any special set up or workaround out there?
sorry...it's a TP-Link 8816, not an 8616
You could borrow a modem from a friend and see if that works. Then you would know if it was the modem or not.

Re: Problem setting up with TP-Link 8816
1. Can you access the modem with your web browser? Can you ping it?
2. Does the modem DSL light come on and stay on?
3. Are you also using another modem?
These three questions are almost completely independent. The first requires no DSL connection, the second requires no computer, the third involves no TP-Link modem.
Perhaps you can be a little more precise and informative about what problem you are experiencing, and your setup?
thanks for all the help. it's weird, i ran through the modem set up with 2 techies and though all was set up well, i.e. green light for DSL, we kept timing out when trying to connect. tried it a 3rd time tonite with another techie and all's working...go figure.
