[general] question on boosting signal

I need to add a computer to my network thats 500ft away from the hub. I have direct burial cat5 run to the location and the pc somewhat works at this distance but im curious if theres a signal booster i can put in the line that will get it up to speed. Will a poe injector achieve this or no?

Or for a MUCH cheaper solution: If you can get power to around the halfway point either via POE or directly powered at the location, use a basic switch with 2 ~250ft cat5 runs. A switch works essentially as a repeater (takes in data, computes it as needed to send the data off to it's destination, then spits it back out at full signal from itself).

I swear, some people should have pace-makers installed to free up the resources. Breathing and heart beat taxes their whole system, all of their brain cells wasted on life support.-two bit brains, and the second bit is wasted on parity! ~head_spaz
