IP security cameras

Need to get a general thought what the opinions on the following IP wireless cameras. So far searching the web I find good reviews on sites and bad reviews on sites. These cameras can also be wired as well.

The two cameras I am looking at are.

• Dlink DCS-5300G
• Linksys WVC200 Wireless PTZ internet camera w/ audio.

thoughts? have you used one? If you have how did you like it?

In your post please list the type of camera you had and what you liked about it and disliked.

THanks
david

Newegg reports the Linksys as being discontinued..I haven't used either of those particular cameras but the one 'fixed' Linksys camera I used wasn't so hot.

Personally i'm more familiar with Panasonic IP cameras and only the WV-NS202 was annoying to me. And that was only because the built-in webserver was mostly ActiveX and hard to use remotely.

However most of the Panasonic IP cams are great. I'd highly recommend them. BestBuy sometimes carries a wired model for $199 and wireless for $299.

I've also had others state they were satisfied with TrendNet cameras.

Also, I pair my cameras with software called BlueIris (»www.blueirissoftware.com). I allow it to do any recording / motion triggering and the support for it is fantastic.

Have you had any that were wireless and with audio that you liked?

Never really cared about audio. Some of them you can connect a microphone to.

It's hard to recommend something without knowing what you're trying to do with it.

I'm very happy with the three wired Panasonic IP cameras I have. I've never tried a wireless model though. There is a standard GUI interface across all their models.

They do use an ActiveX applet for digital zoom though.

spend a little more and buy an Axis 206 or 207W--fantastic solid reliable camera.

I saw the axis cameras seem to be non-pan tilt, or am I missing the right models?

You're looking at the wrong models. Axis has plenty of static and PTZ cameras. Just look on their site.

check out www.y-cam.com

I bought one of their infrared models for $269. The "white" version is not infrared and costs around $200. All of the models are wireless and work very well. I picked one up last week and ordered another with an external enclosure.

I may soon purchase a dome camera for the front exterior of my house. I'm currently looking at models from Mobotix and Axis.

I also recommend Blue Iris. It's powerful, easy-to-use and supports many cameras.
