1 edit | Hello,
This is a problem with a 514 area code and we have alrady contacted the carriers in that area. They are aware of the problem and said they would attempt to fix the problem last night. We are still working on it.
( UPDATE : problem seems to have been corrected. Please try again and let us know if you have any other problems ) |

| reply to armel April 24 : I still have problem with VOIP : broken voice stream.
When I talk to a BELL rep, for inquiring about a new acct, he said " So, you are with VOIP service ? Don't you get cut during talking ...?
For our thoughts : Clearly, who is the source of the problem ? |

| reply to armel Who creates problem ?
The Bell sales rep knew all about the VOIP "problem". He laughed, as naturally as, "I drop the rock, you below will get hurt".
For people who needs to stay away from Bell, the following arrangement works : Use Fido cellphone for voice, use Acanac (& dryloop) for DSL, and use X-lite softphone (acanac) if you need to call US & other provinces frequently. Fido cell phone will cost about the same as a landline + voice service from Bell. But Fido has a honest billing service, a clear pricing offering. Very straight forward. Bell behaviour is NOT like that. |

| I am not sure if Bell purposely do something to disturb the VoIP based phone services. Indeed, many people prefer to use the cost effective Voip instead of classics Bell landlines. They may loose some money from phone service, but they get them back from DSL and Internet service trough ISP providers.
I think, this Bell rep just means - any Voip service may be not as shiny as their analog one
The source of problem was somewhere in proxies/servers VoIP chain. I will have more info next week.
Thanks. |

| reply to armel My VoIP did not do well since April. After 6 tickets, 1 promise of free month, I decided to cancel. Reason : it is not working. Then Billing rubs salt to the injury : they charge 19$ per month for the mths I used, not at the rate of 9.95$ as agreed on the full year payment. Acanac wants to ignore the free-month, wants to charge for the months during which service was flaky. I am afraid that Acanac will follow the reputation of Bell Billing. In my modest opinion, this Cust Rep did not reflect the standing Acanac is trying to achieve. Technical isuue will be reported later. |

| reply to armel Acanac's VOIP:
Yes, I was speaking with acanac/voip support about 3 days ago, and "they" even said that acanac's voip IS problematic. She suggested power-cycling the modem,....and yes I've done that before and it worked. Well, atleast they were helpful and honest. (and I do have the ticket #). I haven't complained about my VOIP to acanac for about 8 months now. Normally my acanac voip works "fairly" well nuthin' spectacular, I mean, now and then it seems to get clogged up (dropping packets,... ?)
But, over the last few weeks again my (613) acanac voip has been horrendous to say the least ?!!! -2 or 3 times a day it doesn't work. Now, if Acanaca would cleanup my VOIP so it would work most of the time I'll be very happy.
-bottomline, for $9.95/mo VOIP I'm still happy with it. (and my acanac DSL rocks.:)
But it is becoming like that "cheap-used" car I bought years ago -and I still curse the darn thing for getting me late to work!, breaking down at the worst moments, ... So instead of more money into it, I got rid of it..... we all know the rest of this story.
I, for one, wouldn't mind spending $12.95/mo ? just 'fer gawd sakes ACANAC can you please get a more reliable 3rd-party VOIP supplier er whatever ... This is becoming ridiculous, and yes, I tried different VOIP/ata's - I tried a linksys spa202 ?($179.00 total rip-off shiped from U.S.), and then I tried a Speedtouch 780 (another $139.00 locally) still this acanac/voip is kinda crappy. -just like my old used-car
Are acanac users just throwing good money into a BAD(voip) product ? -like I said, I'll even pay a little "...just make it so number 1..." !
Thanks.

| rik, I've been reporting all these major VoIP issues as well. I believe Paul (the President of Acanac Inc) and other important people are reading dslreport's forum threads regarding VoIP problems and they are working to find an appropriate and reliable solution. In addition, very often, some of these issues are rather related to low upload DSL performance and/or the interleave profiles due to equipment particularities (IKNS for example) or modems. Hope, the thread will end soon, with good news. Thanks. -- We Rock |

Hi, thanks for the reply, mmm, actually this morning (June 8th, 2009) my DSL modem went crazy doing soft reboots between approx. 6am and noon. -my setup (with absoultely no changes for the last few months DSL-wise has worked great. could it be a combo of acanac changes/improvments with my modem ? -I might open a tick with Acanac if it persists tomorrow. I agree though, this is not the thread to go deeper obvisouly and i'm not trying to complain here at all about acanac.
ahh heck, its probably BELL again.
