| How do I allow D/L from HomePage? NotWorking
I have personal webpage with SWBELL, I've uploaded files with NetObjects5.0 and have two EXE files that I want people to D/L.. I give them the URL by email...
The problem I ran into in sending files by email is there is a SIZE LIMIT problem with AOL and MSN and HOTMAIL.... and these files are slightly larger than their limit....
So I thought if I put them on my homepage, people can be lead to the page to download what they need...
I've gotten them on the page.. with LINKS, and when I click on the link I get an HTTP Internal Server Error...
This file distribution system worked quite well when I was with Earthlink, but now it doesn't WORK.. any help would be appreciated.. |

| I get "this page cannot be displayed" when I try your links.
This is from a website and works: click here to download a zipped copy of the batch file.
This is yours and does not work: Download WinStabs2002 for Access 2000
Remove the "." after the " and before the / and see if that's the problem. (I'm not a HTML expert.) |

| reply to sanoyes Are the EXE files in the right folder? By contrast, your graphics files load just fine when typed-in as a URL (example: I can display the file "./BuiltByNOF.gif" from the HTML source for your page by typing-in the URL "http: //home.swbell.net/sanoyes/BuiltByNOF.gif". (without the space after "http:")
Also, does the case and spelling of the filenames for the physical EXE files match the case and spelling in the HREF link? -- SWBell DSL and Prodigy - Router, HPNA, Phone Wiring: »pages.sbcglobal.net/dffisher/DSL/ |

This is really a web page construction problem. I would suggest you try the Web Monks forum. I suspect those guys will have you going right away. If you want I will move this thread over there. |

But I can understand also Posting PWP questions here if it might be related to differences between home.swbell.net, pages.prodigy.net, pages.sbcglobal.net, and the other incarnations. If sanoyes files are in place, it might be the folder structure requirements of home.swbell.net. And in a search of Web Monks, I found only two references to swbell.
For additional coverage specific to swbell PWP (PHP), sanoyes could also post to the swbell.homepages newsgroup. -- SWBell DSL and Prodigy - Router, HPNA, Phone Wiring: »pages.sbcglobal.net/dffisher/DSL/ |

| reply to sanoyes Hi sanoyes, I saw your two posts at swbell.homepages, but no responses yet. Let me try to help again.
Is the "Winstabs2002-A97.exe" EXE file that I saw in the HTML Source for your page spelled and capitalized the same way as the file you uploaded (including the "exe" portion)? And did you upload that EXE to the same root folder in which the file for the link is placed (index.html, I believe)?

Is that from viewing the links and files as saved to your PC? If so, does the NetObjects Fusion application you are using also have a way for you to view and confirm the list of files as they actually appear on your website? If not, have you tried to use FTP from a DOS prompt to open a connection to your website and view your files? -- SWBell DSL and Prodigy - Router, HPNA, Phone Wiring: »pages.sbcglobal.net/dffisher/DSL/ |

| reply to sanoyes It really is confusing. Using the browser, I can type-in the URL and reach all of the other files mentioned in your source: style.css, site.css, clearpixel.gif, and BuiltByNOF.gif. All without a Browser error. But I can't reach winstabs2002-a97.exe or winstabs2002-a2000.exe.
Are you using NetObjects Fusion to upload your files? When you upload to the website, have you confirmed that NetObjects Fusion is placing your exe files in the same directory as the other files, including index.html? -- SWBell DSL and Prodigy - Router, HPNA, Phone Wiring: »pages.sbcglobal.net/dffisher/DSL/ |

Can he do that if he's using NetObjects Fusion for uploads, or would he be better off just using an FTP client to simply delete the current index.html file so we can see what's in there? -- SWBell DSL and Prodigy - Router, HPNA, Phone Wiring: »pages.sbcglobal.net/dffisher/DSL/ |
