802.11b networking is available, but haven't tested it.
Seems to work quite well actually, after upgrading the router my notebook's N speed jumped from 150mbps max to 300mbps max, varying from 90mbps all the way up to 300.
Haven't had any issues so far, web browsing seems to be a bit more responsive and quicker also. |

Since I don't need 'B" any reason I should do this upgrade? |

| reply to dcurrey Upgraded from 1.22 beta.
I have noticed a significant improvement on the wireless side, on N mainly. 802.11g performance is roughly the same.
802.11b is also available anyway.
Is there any reason not to upgrade? I don't think so, works well for me. |

Either that or just go back to wires, don't keep demanding that antique legacy standards be maintained! |

I was running on 1.21 firmware earlier, all was working fine nearly, just a few glitches in 1.21.
Because of the small glitches I decided to try out 1.30 firmware, it works too. .. The only thing I have problem with now is the ports, my FTP server is not working after the upgrade, can't get port 21 to open anymore, strange!
Now I have upgraded to 1.31, same thing and a downgrade is impossible, bummer!
Anyone else notice any strange things with port openings?

Either that or just go back to wires, don't keep demanding that antique legacy standards be maintained! You can buy a Nintendo DS today that only supports 802.11b with WEP. The user cannot upgrade, it is Nintendo who keeps this around. The DS is still a popular product at a reasonable price that is sold alongside the New DSi. The new DSi that just came out this month does support faster wifi standards and better wireless security but the price is approx $40 higher. The DS will be in play for a few more years....
In my case, the DS connects to an unsecured Guest Network. I will not compromise my main network. |

The difference in cost to change from b to g is so small it's not even worth considering. Since they already have developed the software for the DSi it would only be a hardware cost which I'm sure would be much less than $1.00. Is just that they're too stubborn and backward to make the change. I agree maybe the older units couldn't be upgraded (maybe they could) but at least any new DS's they make should meet the newer standard! |

 Routing option |
Hi! Does anyone that has upgraded for this new firmware version can tell me if they have changed "ROUTING" option, under ADVANCED menu to allow us to make routes to LAN instead WAN?
My router uses firmware 1.21 and I cannot make static route to my own LAN, only to WAN port. I will just upgrade if this option is available.
Thanks!
