Getting Email On The Road

I am leaving for South Dokota in the morning and wondering about my email.

I know most of the motels have either a wired or wireless connection.

My question is I am on comcast at home and use windows mail to retreive my emails so will my present server settings(pop3 & SMTP) allow me to connect in the motel and get my mail are will I have to go to comcast's web mail to get it?

Re: Getting Email On The Road

Go to Comcast.net and sign in to your email?

If its pulled to your email account and not left on the server, I guess that won't work. If you use outlook, or Pegasus ... or similar and your PC is with you, any network should work.

If you use GMail or the Comcast.net email or similar, any computer should work.

Re: Getting Email On The Road

Go to the Email FAQS, click on Windows Mail, and follow the directions for using port 587 to send email. Alternatively, you can use port 995 to download email and port 465 to send mail. Make sure that SSL is checked and be sure to include your username and password to log on to the smtp server. The latter alternative used to be listed as the configuration to be used while travelling, but it can be used all the time no matter where you are.

Re: Getting Email On The Road

I have drove 14 hours and 880 miles since 4am this morning and I got in the Hampton Inn and plugged into their network and entered my room pin a that was it.

Thanks for the input.

Just got back home this afternoon from trip to South Dokota.

Happy to say the old pc worked at all three motels coming and going.

Was a blast taking pictures with my new digital camera and then downloading them to my pc and sending some out to my friends and family .
