Re: [Eastern Ontario] Cogeco Burying Cable------Internet Availab

Rifleman. I heard End of May, middle of June. I think they are done setting up Pembroke but the website still shows it unavilable. BUT July Bell is going to be doing some major upgrades after LV and Pet signed that Internet agreement with them. THey are installing a bunch of remote DSLAMS to service I think about 95% of the people with DSL of some sort.

Rifleman, all those boxes are empty. I seen them just connecting power to them in Pembroke on Thursday. The box was open and there was no hardware inside.

Power is a good step, we are close.

Why would Cogeco be installing DSLAMS?!

HeadSpinning, please note that 18526190 was talking about Bell installing DSLAMS.

I don't know about Petawawa Point specifically...actually I don't know about any address specifically but I've just heard that through June several areas will go live quietly and then the official big announcement for folks in the area will be a bit later on but if you're in Pembroke feel free to call in and see if your address is one of those quietly available right now.

9/10 the hardware will sit in there and the power is usually the last thing connected .

Petawawa Point is part of node 9016 and we'll be starting to build that mid July. Should be ready end of Aug.

Pembroke is completely rebuilt 2 way. Just a question of waiting for turnovers. We've tested modem in all of Pembroke and they work flawlessly now just waiting on the formalities. As Krispy suggested call in your node may already be one of the active ones. These days nodes are going active weekly.

All digital and HD should be available by mid August early September with phones following closely after that.

Most of these big green boxes are for power supply upgrades and the changes are part of the standby powering requirments for the system. These are proactive changes we're making to get us up to minimum 4 hour battery backup. If I tell you more I'll have to "read you in".

Walks the 250 feet to the Broadband Maintanice Building and bangs on the door. Give me my internets.

That's right the building is on fire. Leave the building. Enact the age-old drama of self-preservation.

Sandy Drive is in node 9017 and they are currently building that node. Probably end of July mid August before it will be fully active and ready to sell. That's as long as there are no major cable faults to repair. Their moving pretty fast these days.

Should be available by beginning of September maybe earlier. You're in 9007. Node is fully rebuilt and two way ready just need the doc's and the good to go from corporate.

I am located in the MQ area on Ortona Ave. I am curious as to how Cogeco competes with other ISPs within respect to Wholesalers (ie... TekSavvy). I am trying to convince myself that if I wanted to go with Cogeco, I would be getting a reasonable deal in comparison to what TekSavvy offers - 5mbit, 200 GB cap, and no throttling.

That's good. Unfortunately the sales people tell me they don't have anything up yet and have no idea when it might be available here. If you find anything else out could you pass it on please Chromac.

Thanks

And this is why Cogeco continues to be terrible. One hand doesn't know what the other is doing.
