| Wowway Highspeed Internet/Phone
Hi, I hooked up with Wowway about 2 months ago and have been having problems ever since i joined. I have the Arris TM502g. My problem is that my modem will de synchronize for no aparent reason. It goes down to the power light only and works its way back up. I have had a grand total of 10 techs out to attempt to fix my problem. They have ran all new cables in the house, swapped the modem out for a new TM502g, and put my line on only 1 splitter at the moment. My signal strengths read out as such.
Downstream Freq/Power: 681.000 MHz -4 dBmV Signal to Noise Ratio: 36 dB Modulation: QAM256 Upstream Freq/Power: 36.000 MHz 41 dBmV Channel Type: DOCSIS 1.x (TDMA) Symbol Rate: 2560 kSym/sec Modulation: QAM16
They said that these numbers were good and that i should not be disconnecting, but i still am. It will happen mainly when i am gaming, so we decided to try and go to the supercharged 15 MB down and 2 MB up, still disconnecting. Any help that anyone could provide with my problem would be very beneficial. thank you |

| I had a similar problem with my voice modem and BT causing the modem to reboot when maxed out. I showed them it happening, and they put on a test modem and it didn't do it, so they put it on my account. All I can say is have them try another modem. WOW only has one kind of phone modem, but there are some with newer hardware, I think or some of them take the DOCSIS 2.0 software better than the older ones. Any way, all you can do is have another tech come out and get him to swap it again if it's still doing it. It's a PITA, but there isn't much that we can do to help you out. |

| reply to Xtremety Today my modem is only dropping my upstream connection. It only happens when it is maxed out during gaming. With a 2MB upload i wouldn't think it would be a massive issue of my total bandwidth available, but it is still tanking. Note that the only 2 lights on when it re syncs are the Power light and the Downstream light |

1 edit | reply to Xtremety Just as an update on my situation, i traded in my modem for the 3rd time and i am no longer losing synchronization with my upstream! But with every good thing comes a bad thing. I am now getting spells of 2-4 seconds of straight dead lag in the middle of my gaming. I was again confused about this because WOW has again told me that they can do nothing. So i ran some tracerts of the servers i was playing on. As it would be, WOW is routing me in a total circle around the country before they hook me up to the center that was about 100 miles from my home! I called the tech support line and they gave me the remark that all cable companies have lots of hops in their tracerts to websites! WRONG! I had a friend that lives in western canada, had him ping the same east coast server i was pingning from indiana, and sure enough he got 12 hops, while i got a whopping 16. If anyone has some advice as to my new problem i would be very happy to hear some ideas. Thank you |
