1 edit | [CATV] New VOD New HD Content / Storage Upgrades..
Hi Everyone,
Just a quick update as we are in the process of upgrading VOD capacity across all markets and focusing on adding additional HD and FREE content.
New Content that all should be live now or very soon :
HD ON DEMAND :
We are adding more content to the Starz HD folder.
MGM HD (25 Hours of HD Movies) (Must have MGM Channel) IFC Free (HD) We TV (HD) AMC (HD) Music Choice (HD) HD Music Videos
In Free Extras :
NBC (Monk/Oxygen/Psych/Sci-Fi Channel/Heros/Bravo) Inspiration Networks Sundance HSN We TV AMC on Demand
Sports / UFC OnDemand - Has some Free Content, Individual Fights etc..
Music/Music Choice (lots of videos)
Also we launched some additional Adult Natured content in Special Interest / Adult.
Still a lot in the pipe as well once those become finalized I will send out another update.

| I'm pretty much focused on the Video and VOD side these days, If negative duck is floating around here he could possibly help you out if you are having capacity issues..

| reply to rcnman Nothing new here yet.
But that's expected. it's the Lehigh Valler lulz.
One thing I've noticed since the beginning tho...MusicChoiceHD content says its 5.1 audio, but it's only 2.0 192kbps audio.

Where is Cartoon Network HD? It was promised months ago! Where are the Viacom HD channels?? When can we expect these? |

1 edit | reply to LewisD While I don't disagree with you, lewisD, VOD doesn't use the same bandwidth as a HD channel does. VOD relies solely on an internet connection, hence the load (buffer) times for movies to begin.
Now, that being said. I'm going to assume you don't live in the Lehigh Valley since your asking for channels the other markets don't have. Fine and dandy, but adding those channels to the other markets would be a swift kick in my junk. Since they'd want to worry about spending money in other markets to bring in brand new HD channels instead of spending some money and adding a few new HD channels to RCN's original market. The per capita here is big, I still don't get why they're willing to lose a customer base since, well whenever 1990ish?
The least they can do is confirm they are in the process of ordering equipment, adding two way connections to previous one way areas, or e-mail us status updates. We deserve it right? We pay the same as everyone else with less features |

| Shadyman, I agree 110% with your statements. I've called many times to question and then complain about the fact that we here in the Lehigh Valley pay the same and get less. And now they take away Cinemax. The person I spoke to about that, stated that I was getting some additional other premium channels to offset the loss of Cinemax. But I told them I watch only the HD channels. So did they give me additional HD channels to offset the Cinemax HD? No, they didn't. So I'm losing, not gaining a thing.
RCNMAN. Can't you comment on the Lehigh Valley area? |

The loss of cinemax didn't affect me, thank god. But I will say, since we pay the same as other markets and get less, how come we don't get ALL HD channels free. HBO-HD, Showtime-HD, etc... instead of having to get the packages. I'm strongly looking into directv, I know they compress their signal, but HD is HD. I know it won't be crisp, but i won't be missing any TV aspect ratio when it comes to NFL games, sporting events, wrestling, etc... i'm missing 40% of a picture when i watch wrestling on monday nights cause of the lack of USA-HD. Hell, i'm missing a show totally cause we don't get WGN america... the other markets do though, in SD and HD. what gives? There HAS to be cap room to add a solid 10 channels... there just HAS to be. |

| reply to rcnman Cool, this is good to hear!
On my "wish list" for this area is to see a section with documentaries.
It would also be nice to see the children's (Y7) section expanded since one of the best uses of VOD for those of us with kids is the ability to be able to watch a favorite show anytime without commercials (kids commercials are among the worst).
And while I'm at it, I'd also like to see the discovery health VOD section expanded. To be honest I don't even remember if it's there, but I think it was...just limited selection.
Anyway, thanks for posting! I really like it when you guys let us know what's in the works, even if it's some time away. |

@fresher.com | reply to rcnman I would love to see FearNet added! I had heard rumors that it was indeed going to be added, but never happened.
Anyone hoping for Howard TV shouldn't hold their breath... |

@rcn.com | reply to rcnman Thanks for the update rcnman. Just got a great teaser flyer from a major competitor in the mail but RCN's HD choice in the DC area keeps me loyal. RCN customer 5+ years. |

@statestreet.com | reply to rcnman The VOD contents are not updated regularly. The Sundance section only has three movies. There is no FearNet section. rcnman , please advise. |

This happened when the Starz HD selection was originally put up. There were only about 3 movies, but the selection grew as time went on. You should see more in MGM HD and others as the months progress. It just sucks that RCN can't have the providers load all of the existing content that they have available On Demand. |

| I am seeing Starz, and all the old content, but I don't see folders for any of the new content that rcnman mentioned above, such as AMC HD, WE HD,etc. The only new folder in the HD section is MGM HD.
I was wondering when the other new content will show up in the Boston area. |
