Ahh, I see. You have RDRAM which is obsolete and pricey. Thanks for the reply!
You may be able to find a cheap motherboard and ram for it though! Just a happier thought!

| Yeah, some people can't really upgrade their computers because of how outdated they are. And, as you noticed, that kind of RAM costs tons more than the more modern RAM. I myself primarily used a PC from the end of 2001 that used PC133 RAM. Just about a week ago I purchased and built a new PC (and I was surprised about the price of RAM for it: $50 for 4 GB!). But I guess the older RAM costs more because it's still in high demand.
As for IE6, I was using Firefox, but sometimes used IE6 for when I needed to easily extract files from its cache (which it collected from webpages). I still have my old PC hooked up for those occasions. |

With my Dell I'd have to replace BOTH chips; can't replace only one. Thanks for searching, but not worth it to spend $150 to upgrade 256MB RAM to 512MB.

I'm betting you could spend thousands, fill your Dell Dimension 8250 with as much SDRAM as it can hold, then load your closet chock full with backup sticks-- and Bing would still hijack your Google Toolbar in IE6.
I'm with you. Live with what you've got until you buy a better machine.
Nor did I notice your thread title being "Can someone recommend some RAM for me?"
said by VR Laura :Microsoft is aware of the problem and they recommend IE6 users upgrade to IE7 or IE8. I guess 'shit-can Bing' didn't occur to them as an option. |
