So they just discontinued my VDSL not 2 in phoenix. Moved to the fiber to node. They ain't going to upgrade me again anytime soon. Had 1.5 upload on the old VDSL not down to 896. Great for me. sarcasm. So do not say a full roll out. Say for select customers and friends of the CEO only. |

| reply to demoniacs I'm guessing Ultimate and Ultimate+ have to be within 1000 feet of the DSLAM for this one?
Those tiers actually look nice, though I don't like milking copper too much. Better than AT&T U-Verse speed-wise that's for sure.
I'd jump for Quantum+ instead of Comcast's service if it was offered in my area. Though right now I can only get 5M DSL so it'd take a LOT of infrastructure improvements to see this.
Nonetheless, WANT. |

| reply to demoniacs I haven't work for Qwest for 2 years now but last time I spoke with someone I use to work with, Qwest was doing ADSL2 and later in the year they would start pair bonding to get higher speeds. Right now they offer 20Mbps/896Kbps in limited areas. They were actually starting to remove the VDSL stuff when I was there. |

This is VDSL2, but there are no plans for video service on it like the choice product was. The equipment is also all from a different vendor, part of the reason for killing off the choice service was next level discontinuing production of much of the equipment. Also, all that is required to upgrade areas with the FTTN like you have is a different card in the DSLAM, so you will likely be able to get this once it is rolled out to more dslams.
Also, Qwest already has some of the support documents for the Q1000 modem on it's website. »www.qwest.com/internethelp/modem···ion.html |

@qwest.net | So it will not take a whole new dslam? ADSL2 and VDSL2 will play nice in the same dslam? |
|
ewth8tr Premium join:2005-04-03 Salt Lake City, UT | Yep, the the fttn dslams will just require new cards instead of having to install a whole new dslam. This also will not go through an ATM network, so much of the overhead will not be there. |

| reply to demoniacs Perfect timing. I (finally) ran into a field tech yesterday that wasn't busy and he said, after I mentioned learning about the Ultimate tier, "Oh we were just talking about 40 megs yesterday, but I don't know a whole lot about it", and after a little more chatter he gave me the cell no. of the lead provisioning tech for the area, who he said would give me a timetable/roadmap on FTTN deployment in general, which later would include VDSL2.
Anyway, that's a VERY nice lineup, especially price-wise. Titanium+ looks like the sweet spot, and I'd personally use it if I had a choice. |

| reply to demoniacs I would love to know what i'm going to get. I called in ther other day (1 week ago) and they told me that my area was being upgraded in Dec. This is after the oct 2009 that was promised to have all VDSL customer upgraded. If this is going to be in my area I would love to know. I did the twitter talkto me and nothing. They said they would transfer me to a Choice rep and I have never heard from a single person. My house has been a very very loyal customer. I have lived in it since 88 and now I'm the primary on account. I'm in what i would consider a affluent area. Less then 1 mile away I have Football players and many baseball players. I'm only 900 Ft from the Box for VDSL. This is very disheartening. |

@qwest.net | reply to questionable If you're only 900 ft from the box then you will be able to get the 40/20 tier available at your house when they do the upgrade. Almost everything new going forward will be the VDSL2 instead of ADSL2+. |

So I wont get the new VDSL2 for many years now? I like a faster upload. |

Question I have, when will us guys in small towns (hooked into the CO) 10k+/- see these options. I feel we've been ignored with the ADSL2 upgrades. |

join:2006-05-14 Denver, CO | reply to iansltx I concur. PPPoE is just one more piece of overhead that must be processed by the CPE device. |

If you were previously on VDSL, you may have gotten switched to FTTN, but there wasn't much to be done about that.
If you're on a FTTN node now, then you'd be ahead of the curve in getting upgraded to VDSL2 if and when it happens because the fiber infrastructure is already there. |
