I believe it is because of your IP address. Unless you are using a Wildblue IP you cannot access some pages. Just like Hughes or Canadian Xplornet. THey only allow users of their system to access some pages.

When you are on the road you are using a celluar ISPs IP address.

It is possible to reach all WB pages on any ISP - I guarantee it - I do often

I suspect you may have the Optimizer installed, turn it off when not using WB network

Interesting

A static route to a proxy server at the NOC would do that. Static routes at the NOC would be high security risk, because could be hijacked to another proxy which would give a chosen few, first priority to the gateway over all the other captured clients.

The optimizer is the Key to this. (You can turn it off)
You have to reformat your hard drive and reinstall the OS. Then install your internet security on you PC and finally lock down your router that attaches to you satellite modem. Then you have a (clean system) which gets it internet address from the Wild blue server.

I figured this out in the first 2 weeks of having Wild blue over three or more years ago. Anyway I have had good advertised service from Wild blue with no prime time slow downs.
I fine it interesting that there is a new speed text out “but the only thing you have to do to use it – is turn off your Fire Wall”.

Wrong...you don't have to reformat your hard drive to turn off optimizer.

It's been posted before what has to be done...

What changes does the WildBlue Optimizer make on a PC?

The WildBlue Optimizer makes five customer-reversible configuration changes. These changes are:

The optimizer performs some functions has things you can do with it. Things you can turn off and on reinstall and uninstall. The problem with this software is; it is poorly written and has back doors which worms and viruses can exploit. And thus some times, the only way you can get rid of these worms and viruses is to reformat your hard drive and reinstall the OS.

Why Optimize the PC when you can configure a router to handle every thing so much better. And just let windows auto configure it self – something it does very well.

What you can not uninstall is the nasty DNS worm. The way you get it is to install and run the WildBlue Optimizer.

I was going to call the Optimizer malware but i think that to strong. I think it more like neglect ware. To bad it was not Open Source - could have harnessed energy of some of the script kiddies and gamers to fix it.
