• The 17424 RWIN is close to the low end of one of the Windows default RWINs. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
• Your RWIN, as I said above, is pretty much in the right range. Maybe plug in the lower RWIN and see what it does?
• As for the recommended RWIN range that The Doctor suggests, it should be taken with a grain of salt.
• The chap in that thread who reduced the RWIN, did not really move it enough to make any real world results. It's is his box and if he does not like the suggestion, he can change it if he want to.
• Try dumping the cache, run some virus tools, and see what that does. Also, try disabling your AV and firewall. Have you added any new SW or HW recently? -- "You can observe a lot by watching". Yogi Berra |

Have you added any new SW or HW recently? Haha, I'm way ahead of you on most of this. Cache has been cleared, but it's the same across both browsers I regularly use. I've run virus/spyware scans within the last week (though I have no reason to believe they would find anything), and as I said, no malware. The only hardware I've changed in the last year was my video card, which I doubt is related, and I don't think the problem started appearing then. No new software was installed around the time the problem started appearing, and I've only installed one or two things anyway. None of them run in the background on my machine, and I've disabled any services they installed. As for disabling AV and firewall... I already have my firewall disabled right now (and that would've been one of the first things I'd try), and the only anti-anything program I've had running at startup in the last year is Spybot's Teatimer, which shouldn't interfere with anything. Exiting Spybot doesn't seem to improve the problem (no surprise there)... I will try the tiny RWIN the next time I restart my computer, and see if that does anything to help.

That's interesting... my ping seems to have been relatively good (from my point of view) in games, so I hadn't thought to study anything related to my latency. What might I do to improve this? Or is there anything I can do? |
