Re: SB6120 - Time is wrong

Thanks everyone! I learned a wealth of info here. For example, I learned how to check my config file via DHCPForce to make sure I am getting the service tier I am paying for (currently trying out "Ultra" via a special promo price). Very good info on these forums. I should sign-up!

I just stated a fact for comparison purposes, and to reinforce what I stated about not all makes and modems display it there. So your point is ??
My point is.. the 6120 T&D info is on the main page, and your post had nothing to do with what he asked. All you did was bring up another model of modem, and we were not talking about it.

So until motorola does some kind firmware update to move this kind of info, and if they ever even do that on this model of modem. So until something like that happens, What i posted was only correct, and what you posted really had nothing to do with the question regarding the 6120 modem.

EDIT: The correct time and date will be on the main page which is the page that loads when you first load this page »192.168.100.1/
That may be so with your particular modem/version of firmware..

My Moto SB5100 doesn't display it there..
Uh correct me if im wrong... but we are talking about the 6120... and not the 5100. I know with the 6120 the time and date is displayed on the main page.

Exactly. The CSRs would *usually* not know when a firmware change occurs (unless a firmware change is mandated due to a specific issue regarding a particular brand of cable modem, such as a new model), as the push is triggered by the network operations center (NOC) for a system/cluster/region. (Example: New firmware or updated firmware for the SB-5120 would leave West Chester, PA (Comcast Eastern Region NOC) for Manassas, VA (DC Metro Cluster NOC) and land in Capitol Heights, MD (NOC for Comcast of Prince George's County, MD, on Ritchie-Marlboro Road) before landing at my cable modem.) In fact, a NOC may actually *block* a firmware update (at the system or cluster level); however, the NOC operations director must sign off on it. (In short, there had better be a good reason for the HALT sign going up.)

It really is not that big of a deal to me either. I just simply learned yesterday how to access my modem and was curious how to upgrade the firmware. I noticed the time being wrong and figured it was a bug.

Anyways, I have talked to 3 people at Comcast now and they all claim that they do not do firmware updates.

I give up haha. I am guessing they dont want people hacking modems and this is why user updateable firmware is not allowed.
My firmware is the same as yours, as is everyone here who has a 6120. Even if they where to do a firmware update, they most likely don't have a newer firmware to push to you anyway. I am fairly sure it is a TOD server issue or a clock on a server is off. Something a firmware update won't fix. Your luck, it will get rid of the clock! They do change stuff occasionally on firmware updates.

Well your modem has the lastest firmware update, like i said before i have same modem, and thats the same firmware its running. Hell the firmware was released only march 20th, so its only been a few months, and the modem is around a year old.

Btw comcast may say they don't do firmware updates, but thats a lie because the modem companys supply them with them, and they(your ISP) sends them to your modem.

Yeah.. I mean hell aint that why windows has a clock down in the corner for? or even hell on vista they have a bigger one in the top right corner if needed
Or your cell phone, your vcr, your cable box, watch, clock on the wall, microwave, tv guide channel, etc.. If you have a hard time knowing the time, i think you need a new watch or clock radio!

And even if they bend over and push another newer firmware to you, the chances of it actually fixing your issue is extremely slim. I never heard of a firmware update fix a time issue. I think there is a server for that.
