3 pc's, 2 laptops, 3 phones later+
2 years of sending MJ units back and forth finally got to the point i can do a local call: clear, no problems
long distance: they hear a beeping with dead air and miss 3 out of say 10 words, while i hear a little dead air.
Att phone @ repair, and dsl teck are (#@*)suckers
MJ tech's are (#@#&***) worse nuf said.
anyone anyone have any idea's where to go from there, nobody will own up to anything, and mj is a horrible joke |

How many hundreds or thousands of dollars of your TIME have you wasted trying to save a few bucks?
There are so many good providers around like CallCentric, PhonePower, FutureNine, VOIPo, VoicePulse, which would have been FAR cheaper in the end.

MJ is a cheap phone service. I wouldn't expect much from their "customer support team". When it works, MJ is a great money saver but it isn't for everyone.
Do you enjoy inflicting pain on yourself in order to save a few bucks? For heavens sake move on and forget about MJ.
There are plenty of choices in the VOIP ring. |

Also, every call you make with magic jack is the same there is no local and long distance. All calls are connected the say way, so your comments make no sense.
Magic Jack works if you do not have ports block and your internet connection works.
If Magic Jack does not work it has nothing to do with the MJ. It is either your computer, router, or internet connection.
Your computer may be full of viruses and spyware. Your internet connection might not be working properly. You did not forward the ports in your router. People on your network are downloading so much that your Magic Jack cannot get enough bandwidth to work.
Magic Jack is great, but it 100% dependent on your internet connection quality.
I had ATT DSL for years and never had any problems.
What internet package do you pay for?

And that comment is pretty much MJ's biggest problem. "Computer caused issues" is what makes MJ a questionable product for mainstream masses. I like MJ but I'd take a SIP desktop adapter anyday over the darn USB device. |

Ive had MJ now for almost 2 months. The ONLY issue I've noticed is at 1 hr and 59 minutes. I drop to dialtone. I was on the phone tonight for 4 hours (strait and yes, she's worth it  ) and my line dropped at 1:59:00. I went back and looked at my log. A few other times over the course of using MJ, at 1:59:00, my line dropped. No, I've not looked at the FAQ and spent hours and cash trying to figure out the problem. It's something I can live with anyway. After living through Sunrocket and VoicePlus, this is much better and now that I leave my PC on 24/7, it's not an issue. |

yes opened ports on everything, remember i have been in a tech battle with mj for over 2 years.
I repair computers and resolve puter problems for many others
i have mostly been sending mj back to get one that would work.
money who cares, i have been retired for 20 years , getting mj to work is a hobby 4 me.
I gave one mj to my kids,and one for us/ they are going through the same thing i am doing
anyone have the name, web site or or #;s for the servers mj uses?
I did ask for a reset of account # that's a laugh.
The new vista update has 2 trojans,+ 4 malware.
How they make their money is selling your key strokes and phone #, and phone info.
nothing new though except i get flooded with telephone offers on my regular household line/ since i got a mj that half way works after 2 years ; att and the rest do this stuff anyway.
When you send away for a replacement you get someone elses dud that kinda worked YOU DO NOT GET A FACTORY NEW ONE.
Sorry to r81984 comment don't know what to say but when i call local no beeping with dead air on their side. anything other than that it's back to the problem beeping and dead air on their side.
